    Default Slide Help?

I got a cheap earthwing executioner and some slide gloves.
I tried doing the coleman (only helpful thing in the sticky so dont say look there) and i fell
every time i tried it i fell
all I am able to do is toeside slides with 2 hands down
What should I try to do next, how should I do it, etc.

    Note
I am practicing on a somewhat of a hill, long and straight.

Try some heelside slides with both hands down! And if you're having trouble with colemans, try some twohanded pendies. I personally think toeside pendies are much easier than colemans to do, and it's good practice since a lot of the same principles apply to both tricks and it'll get you used to bringing the board back around. It's also a lot harder to fall doing a 2h t/s pendy, since it's almost impossible to highside when you're down in that push-up position and you can just turn it into a shutdown if you feel you can't bring it around.

You could also try some one-handed heelside 180s.

Are you using hard wheels or soft?

Hey Greg, it's Graeme, the one who sold ya that deck.

With the wheels and Executioner, I'd say that setup will be great to nail basic tech slides. 180's, 360's, standups. Stuff that is quick and easy, but still foundational to sliding. As for Coleman, I'd say keep pushing yourself to not grab rail, keep a drop knee, and kick out that back leg.

oh the coleman slide... haha i had trouble with it for the longest. all because i decided to learn by grabbing the rail

but anyways, like most everyone else has said, drop that back knee. i mean, drop it to the board if you can. also, when you put your weight back on your hand and front foot, really focus on keeping yourself centered over the board. i know i used to throw too much weight back and would pretty much slide my butt on the road instead of my wheels but on the same note, dont be too afraid to put your weight back, because your wheels wont break traction and beleive me the one time it happened to me i ended up losing control and running off the road into a stop sign

    ...oh sweet thashing

you learned toeside. This means that A: you are capable of sliding, B: your particular board/trucks/wheels/bearings/bushings/spacers/speedrings/washers/hardware/risers/griptape combo is capable of sliding.

practice more, FOLD THAT KNEE OVER.

lol i am exactly in your position i can 2h toeside pendy but can't do a coleman to save my life. Problem with me is, I can't get my legs to fold and if I do I end up doing the splits. I recommend trying a 2h coleman or heelside slide because thats practically 1 step behind a coleman. btw I gave up on the coleman and I'm trying to learn checks, any tips?

Colemans are easy its just all about commitment and to have enough speed, you can see in my avatar pic my stance while doing it,just get in a droped knee position and reach the ground behind your butt and with your other hand on the air tell your board were you want yo go and she will follow, just make sure your weight its on your hand(and your balls between your legs ) and wear pads coz you will get high sided, also harder wheels or wet road will help to start.

I can do colemans either grabbing rail or with my hand in the air, what's so bad about grabbing rail? I guess I won't do that anymore though.

Drop your knee flat like this.

Also the board will go wherever your eyes are looking, so turn your head and your shoulders at the same time. Look back up the hill as you do a big heelside carve in the drop knee position, swing your arm around at the same time and the board will follow.

If you stare downhill while swinging your arms, then you will slide perpindicular to the hill and flatspot your wheels if you hold the slide long enough

Keep practicing, you will get it eventually.
    Life is short, have fun.

It limits how much can you deweight your board and if you going to fast and have soft wheels It may get you High sided, you grab the rail when doing a fast turn and want to limit the drifting of your rear wheels, but grabbing it doing Colemans its not a good idea and don't even talk about grabbing it between your legs(there a name for it I forgot, can someone remind me?)

Ironically, right after I posted that I went out on my board and found myself not being able to do a colemen without grabbing rail.... great. Any pointers you can give to knock this bad habit?
