Loose trucks?
do loose trucks really make it easier to slide? I had some trucks that were rather loose, made carving and such really easy. But when i was sliding i felt like i was going one direction too far. Like in a pendy i was drifting to the right every single time. So i though my trucks were so loose that was what was causing it so i put on some harder bushings, I put on some black khiro's, they are hard but not the X-hard. should i switch back to the looser ones? thank you much.

Re: Loose trucks?
I like looser trucks for sliding. Its easier to really lean in and get your weight situated. However, its all about what you like. Try out different things.

Re: Loose trucks?
I find I slide more with loose trucks because more of my weight goes sideways. DH trucks often have less lean to stop you sliding too much. At least that's my theory.

Re: Loose trucks?
looser trucks will make it easier to initiate a slide. but you have to find what works best for you, you've ridden both of those setups so we cant really tell you how much you will like them.

Re: Loose trucks?
well truck preference varies greatly from person to person and bushings really depend on that AND your weight/trucks and what you're into. i have my all my carve boards like my never summer norad set up as loose as they can go, my evo on the other hand it quite a bit tighter, but still loose enough to be able to turn.
on my main board i ride which also happens to be the one i slide on i have the trucks set up fairly loose. i remember going out for a session one time and every stand up slide seemed a bit harder, had totally forgot that i had tightened my trucks the night before. so for me, i skate/slide better on loose trucks. my friend also slides tho and likes he trucks to be tight as hell, personally i don't get it. i find trick skating with tight trucks so much harder too. been just starting to mess around with olliein' up like 8" high curbs again and stuff, and i can def say that it's a lot harder for me to ollie and balance while i'm on stuff with tight trucks. but that's just me.
from what your post sounds like, sounds like you just need to practice some more and learn to control your board in a slide. you could tighten up your trucks/change bushings or whatever, but i would say just go out there and try to control your board better. learn to steer your board while in a pendulum or at least be able to pull it in or out (trust me it's possible).

Re: Loose trucks?
Loose trucks just makes it that much more easier with less effort versus harder bushings and a tight setup.

Re: Loose trucks?
the looser your trucks are the more their going to lean so you can shift your weight when you slide. but it really depends on wat you like.
personally i would put back on whatever you had on before.

Re: Loose trucks?
I prefer loose trucks on my longer boards, but on my shorter board with a kicktail I found tighter trucks worked better for me
Find which way is easier for you, learn the slides, then try it the other way. One of the most important things you can have in longboarding is symmetrical skill. Ride goofy and regular, try doing your slides switch, ride really loose and really tight, do slides/tricks quickly and slowly. Push your comfort zone a lot, it will make you a much better rider.

Re: Loose trucks?
I find having looser trucks makes it break out easier, but once in a slide, i like the feel of tight trucks, so im learning to slide tight trucks.

Re: Loose trucks?
too tight and i cant turn fast enough to break it out, too loose and it just turns sharply instead of breaking out. Loose enough to turn well but not floppy loose is the best compromise IMO.
