sorry to say... but even with 86a wheels they still grip way too much to be enjoyable for sliding... smaller wheelbase kills the easy slides with softer wheels. you have to really really REALLY! push your wieght around and its not as nice a drift as i would have liked.

so the whole having a plush ride plus great sliding capabilities is so far not achieved...

It makes for some amazing carving though! grips sooo damn much so you can pull the tightest turns at speed ( taken not the most stable ride at that wheelbase... but in the 18-25 mph speeds its great) thing is im obsessed with standup sliding so the search for the wheel to complement this great deck continues...

i should be getting some durians 83a in the next couple weeks so ill try it there with those to see if theres a difference, and i thikn ill also pick up some of Krafffts slide wheels ( those seem to be the slidiest wheels ive ever seen. lol) and ill see the difference from there on.

i run a be40 with revenges, and gos wheels. they make smaller ghost thane s9 wheels, and tehy slide super nicely, and the revenges really compliment the longer wheelbase

let me clarify.... hands down slides are easy, very easy... retarded easy... but standup slides are a completely different story.

( and essentially thats all i love to do on my boards going down hills that arent all that steep, since bombing them is too easy...)

Im finding standup slides take way too much effort on this deck with the 66mm 86a zigs, i hope the durians feel better, i really didnt want to go to slide a type wheels if i could avoid it... i like plush rides, which with anyt board with a wheelbase over 26 i can slide like butter, no matter how soft they are.

thats what i meant. standups are a sinch. you just whip it around, and with it being a tortional truck, it just goes. powering off the tail with revenges is a crazy fun feeling.

i never liked randals on it. i ran mine with indys and sergios for the longest time, and with rainskates mini tsu's. i was bored one day and wanted to actually try the deck with spare stuff i had laying around, and found out how much i love revenges on it. (they work great with longer decks anyways) i imagine bennets would be an awesome match for it too

I had some black 65mm krypto classics and indy 149s on mine. Slid like the butter. Of course the kryptos coned, but that's what sideset wheels do. and anyway they were dirt cheap. Have fun. The BE40 is rad once you get wheels you like under there.

    i imagine it will be.
will try out the randalls ( jut becasue i have them already) and i know revenges are very cheap too so if i come across some i might try those as well ( they can always go on my dancer if i dont like them)

well i have 39carve with randals and 70mm 78a arbor wheels
its a fun board though its quite hard to do standups since 39 has less concave then be40 and the wheels are VERY grippy even after being broken in

i had revenge trucks on this board but i really hated them since they're way too high-you cant even really pop the board with those and sliding on such a high board is a bit weird. but theyre great carvers and you dont get any wheelbites

stay with the indy's and grab you some drifters (or even better, a 60mm ish round-edged wheel)

lipped wheels should be nowhere near that board

where are your feet placed when you try the stand-ups?

i found that if i place my front foot covering the mounting holes on the front and i have my back foot a little behind the mounting holes in teh back i can pull them off but it takes a massive thrust to do it.
I tried placing my feet like i normally do on longer boards ( front foot just behind the front mounting holes and back foot in a wide stance) and it didnt even budge. lol

    Did you radius the wheels?

Zigzags are very very grippy until you wear down that lip.

After wearing in my pink bigzigs a good bit I can pull powerslides pretty well on my speedcarver.

Radius them, trust me. It's definitely worth your time.
    Boards breh:
Comet Voodoo XL (OG shape) - 50* Calibers
Carbon Surf Finish Clutch Jailbait - Crails or Paris
Incline Fro Pick - Ace 66
    Comet Shred 35 - Indy 169s

    Not set up:
    Galac GTCPLDP
    Loaded Dervish

$70 + shipping for each?? PM me!

thing is i can powerslide 72a wheels on longer wheelbase decks easy as pie. its the short wheelbase thats killing me.

i dont have any easy way to radius my wheels, and dont really want to since the wheels are amazing freeride wheels on longer decks.

i think that if i cant find my pleasure spot with the stimulus 83a durians i will have to convert to hard wheels.... which isnt bad, just not what i originally planned for the deck, lol

round lips ftw! it will make such a difference when you put the durians on there. i ran my harder noskools on the BE and it was great for sliding.

i put those noskools you traded me on a mini, o man! grip well but i can slide them fairly easily (still working on them though). so ya, round lips are perfect for shorter wheelbases

get your back foot deep in the pocket of the tail, that's what it's there for. Let your heel hang off the rail a lil and dig in with it when you kick it out.

like this shot of Brad (granted he's in the dirt, but he does em on the road like this too)
