Default Soft wheel setup advice BE40

so i have the ability to get a very good deal on a BE 40. thing is though i hate hard wheels. i was thinking of setting it up with some randall 180s, or mission 1 150mm trucks, and 66mm 86a zigs.

would this make a good soft wheel sliding deck? the reason i ask is becasue i have never liked smaller wheelbases for sliding.

anyone else use soft wheels to cruise and do standies/ hands down slides on on a BE40 with softer wheels or is hard wheels the norm for this type of setup?

If you're gonna do it, do it right. I highly suggest conventional trucks, like Indy's on that board. If you want a nice smooth ride, go with some wheels like Rainskates 85a or the soft Earthwing 56mm's

i have some amazing roads by my house so i dont need such a soft wheel, like the eathwings, the rainskates looks nice, but i already have the ziggies and are only 1a harder.
and i also for some reason was thinking in my head that a slippery wheel would help with the whole shorter wheelbase= more grip aspect.

so indies are the way to go huh?

The shape of the Zigs isn't ideal for a board like the BE40, if you're gonna ride it with some new-school style. Personally, I'd set one up with Indys and a new-school shaped wheel.

If you're looking to go soft-ish but still want to slide around, I'd say find a wheel around 95a in a new school shape.

86a Fat Frees could be a nice choice for what you want, but they are a few weeks out, AFAIK.

But yeah, Indys for that deck for sure.

Yeah I already have the zigs, and I like how they release on a 30" wheelbase deck. So wheels aren't going to change.
I do have the option of putting some 215 indies, mission 1 150 trucks or randall 180s. ( ncecesary risers of course if needed.)

Or I could always buy some other trucks if I can find them cheapo and they fit like a dream. 169? 149? 139? Indies?

    What would fit better?

( oh and I have a friend that distributes otangs, so I might get some of those 86as later on!!)

You gotta do Indy 149s or you're just fooling yourself. I also suggest something <65mm with a round lip. The new Fat Frees sound pretty awesome.

Rod, i think i know who you are getting the BE from . i had it set up with 149 indys so def, go for them. the low height of that geometry truck is perfect, after all trackers come standard on the deck. if you radius the zigs it will make a world of difference in how they slide, it may still be a bit chattery but it is not that noticeable other than the noise they make when going slideways.

for a while i ran the stock gravity Street Gs. they are slow as all hell BUT they slid unexpectedly well. made the ride smoother and it stuck when i wanted it too. soft or hard wheels work great on this deck.

if they took the concave and put it on a 36" deck id be all over it!

I run 66mm 88a Strikers on my Carve 39, its very easy to slide but still has some smoothness to it.
