Flex and sliding
this thread's really just out of curiousity... i've learned pretty much everything when it comes to tricks and slides on my ns heist. when doing standies with my heist, i've noticed i'm rather inconsistent. i sometimes get bucked off forward (awkwardly running off the momentum ) or my slide kinda seems to stop short. yet on my buddy's fsm, and pretty much most stiff decks i get on, my standies come out pretty well. i've always been told that flex helps with sliding, especially on flatland, but it just seems like if you don't have every movement locked down then your pretty much screwed.
any thoughts?

Re: Flex and sliding
I think flex helps you slide easier at lower speeds but when you start getting into faster and faster speeds your better of sliding a stiffer deck

Re: Flex and sliding
the reason you get a more consistant slide out of a stiff deck is do to the fact that a flexible deck will act like a spring,
so during a slide, the momentum of your weight moving forward is acting against the friction from the road on the wheels. with a stiff board that force will be constant and the wheels should slide predictably. with a board thats flexing, the force from your momentum wont be transmitted to the wheels as consistently (it will fluctuate up and down), with a less consistent force they will likely be more prone to gripping up at a weird time etc.
also when they do grip your momentum still is trying to carry you forward, but the wheel arn't sliding this will cause you deck to flex even more then bounce back up, possibly causing you hop off.
I prefer a relatively stiff deck with a bit of damping flex for sliding.

Re: Flex and sliding
i envision it as w/ a flexy board, your board initially flexes down prior to the slide, causing wheels to grip.
rebounds.. > wheels slide
weight pushes back down... > wheels grip
repeat etc..
so lack of constant grip.
