    Default Stand up Slide Help

im trying to learn stand up slide. when ever i do a stand up i make it about 130* around and then roll off the road. and if i do make the full heelside 180 i just fall away from my board and it keeps rolling like im not even riding it. i have hardly broken in potangs.

If what you mean by "hardly broken in potangs" is that their not entirely broken-in, then that could be the start of your problem. A board that abruptly throws you off halfway thru a slide is a sign that your wheels are not broken-in enough.
In addition to hard carving and speed checks, 180 powerslides are actually a good way to break-in a set of wheels. So keep it up with what your doing and eventually those slides will become smooth and complete.
Aside from equipment it all comes down to technique. Keep your knees bent and your weight proportioned correctly over the board. That video link that cannon posted contains a wealth of knowledge.

Having broken in wheels makes sliding a world easier.

Go to a garage or a fast hill and do tons sliding and drifting.

That should break em in real quick.

i'm relatively new to sliding so don't take my advice to heart but loosening your back trucks might make it easier to get that initial force needed, its easier for me

Commitment is the hardest part of this trick. I personally learned it from finding a place to skate where it ends with grass. For example, there's this basketball court in my apartment complex that is of course cement, and then surrounded by grass everywhere. I'd start off on one end, push as hard as I needed to, then attempted the stand up slide a few feet before the cement ends into the grass. That way, if I was afraid to commit, I'd get thrown off the board and land in the grass and wouldn't get hurt. I did this multiple times, and now I have it perfected =D

Bend you knees? I was learning 180 standups a week or two ago and kept changing my form a little until I got it right. I found that I bend my knees before I got into the slide, they extend through the slide, and as I'm coming out I bend them and crouch over my board a bit. That helped me from getting bucked off.

i agree on commiment it took me forever to learn cause i couldnt commit. just dont think to much just sorta throw it out. just twist and look over the shoulder your turning into your body will follow after that then just stay ballanced wich is just practice
