Default Trick Deck vs. Old School

Why is an old school board any different for sliding than an old school design?

I'd think because old school decks tend to have more wheelbase making them somewhat more stable.

Loose trucks vs. Stiff trucks, Soft wheels vs Hard wheels, board width, board length, wheelbase, amount of concave. They all make the slide technique and overall feel a bit different.
