    Default 180 --> Pendy?

I pretty much have 180 toe-side's down, but then I end up switch/fakie, and it freaks me out a bit. What's the secret to turning the the 180 into a pendy so I'm rolling "regular"?

Also, when I go for a heelside 180, I typically high-side it. Am I too close/over my board?

    Muchas gracias, oh sliding jefe's.

for the pendy, you just need speed stay on that edge and with the right amount of speed you will feel it start to come back. Also swinging your arm back downhill also helps to torque the deck back the other way.

With the Heel 180 getting high sided usually means you need to drop your rear a bit more and extend beyond the rail a bit more. also making sure your back foot is rolled tends to help you stay pivoting on your front foot.

    good luck!!
The sage, Longboard Buddha once said, "A tree spends 100% of its lifetime in a static environment and only after its reincarnation as a deck is it allowed to move at fast speeds...
when allowed, the wood will give thankless service if
    allowed to flow."

OK, cool. I'm actually planting both hands, so maybe I should get used to just planting one.

Thanks again. One heelside resulted in me straddling the board, with my back leg bent back under me. Thank deity-of-choice for kneepads.

Oh, and when the 78a Flashies wear out, I'll def be moving to something a wee bit harder.

One or two hands is OK, at least for me. It seems to be more in the speed and getting that front foot to help bring it back around. Having the second hand down makes it easier for me to slide the front foot back around. Or you can use one hand and the elbow body twist does it. Look and the master Cliff in Flow its all in his elbow. I don't know (or care) what is right, i'm just learning it myself. Like i was telling my girlfriend yesterday, you can teach an old dog new tricks!

I think I'll stick with two hands for a while, as my one wrist only has about 50% range-of-motion. Time to bust out "Flow," too.

I know what you mean about old dogs (43 here).

also, once you do the 180, look back across your other shoulder (down the hill), it'll start you shifting your weight to finish the pendy automaticaly.

head turns, shoulders turn, hips turn, board turns

    Makes sense--just like in a bowl/park.

Thanks for all the tips. I know what I'm doing after work. 8)

i started to think of it as being a little like snowboarding. i.e. when the board is sliding putting the weight back on the front of the board will bring it back around, just like turning a snowboard. Good Luck Bro- if i can learn it anyone can.

Uuargh...reading this I cannot wait. 4 days until my US trip and I should have packages waiting at the Hotel by now from Gravity (Carve 39) and MileHigh.. (wheels and stuff) - then it is my turn to start training the 180's.. Then I will joint the "Born in the 60's 180 club"
..at the moment I can only handle toeside 100'ish with my S9 Bomber Concave with 78A 9Balls
