Default sliding gloves for a beginner

I'm about to start learning how to slide when my board gets here. What type of gloves do you guys suggest for a beginner? should i buy special sliding gloves, or would something cheaper and more available be as good?

Making your first pair will help you to see what you want in a glove in the future, and I think that making your first pair of gloves is a rite of passage of sorts.
The sage, Longboard Buddha once said, "A tree spends 100% of its lifetime in a static environment and only after its reincarnation as a deck is it allowed to move at fast speeds...
when allowed, the wood will give thankless service if
    allowed to flow."

The pucks have fallen off of my first pair, it took less than 6 weeks, what can I say? I ride hard.

Heh, I think having your first pair of gloves explode, looking back and watching one of the pucks bounce along the pavement behind you as you scream down the hill is a rite of passage... of sorts.

    I second that as well...
