    Default first pair of gloves

i just finished my first pair of gloves.. i used a pair of snowboarding gloves i got from cosco for $14.99. Then I picked up a propane torch from home depot for $10. I had an extra cutting board already. This first pair might not last that long (the cutting board seems thin, the gloves probably wont hold up long sliding, and im worried i didnt melt the cutting board enough before sticking it) but i love them anyways. its a learning experience and im already revising my strategy for the next pair.

well the torch is closer to a one time fee.. (i think it was $6 or $7 for another giant bottle of propane but im sure this one will last me for many pairs of gloves)

    it would cost me
$15 if i wanted the same gloves again..
    or
$3 if i buy just regular work gloves..

i wanted to try the snowboarding gloves cause they are comfortable and warm

I'm just gunna use some old work gloves, but i'm worried that when i'm sliding they'll come off..( i havnt tackled the whole sliding thing yet). I was also wondering if using some wire on top of the cutting board would help at all or is it a bad thing????

are you worried about the puck coming off, or the glove itself coming off?

I was worried about the actual glove coming off, but i've already made them, without the wire, and they work great. When you slide where do you put your hand on the board? Between your feet or on the front of the board?

i usually dont have a hand on the board when i slide.. but you can grab the rail between your feet if you want. not the front of the board though.

I find myself sliding better without holding on to the board cuz it doesnt allow me to extend my legs. I use my other hand for balance and steering.

I also don't think you should put your hand on the board. Here's a a video that show Cliff Coleman doing a sliding clinic in the UK, in it he specifically says not to grab the board for your generic heelside/toeside slides as it gets in the way of your shoulder rotation and will likely cause you to wobble at high speeds. The idea is that if you stance is correct and you place your hands in the correct motion and twist your shoulders to look UPHILL. You won't need the hand on the board.
