Default Having trouble getting a clean slide out of my DH

hey whats goin on guys? yeah im back for anyone that used to know me.
I've been trying to work on my slides alot lately and i just cant seem to get them to slide out smoothly. Like they dont skip on anything like that but they just dont slide hard at all. I'm thinking it may have to do with my trucks because i like them loose most of the time. should they be tighter for slides? (by the way i ride a dh race with randall 180's and Classic K wheels 85mm 80A) i know if the wheels were a bit harder it would help but i really dont feel like buying another set just for sliding cuz i love my wheels now. So any suggestions guys?

maybe leave the wheels you DO have out in the sun, try using the HEALING POWER OF THE SUN to make them chipped and old...

    then buy new wheels.

Whenever you think it might be something and you can try it easily without cost the best thing would be to try it.

Tighten up your truck and just see. I would assume that if they were really loose then yeah that would contribute to a less than stellar slide. Because the power you would be transferring into the slide would be soaked up by actually causing the trucks to deflect.

...sorry i dont understand how some people are so "happy" about their Kryp's. I have tried other wheels and have tried Kryp's..I will stick to my other wheels. (ABEC's and 3dm's..the new Seismic's ride real well also.) Let the Kryp's go to the buzzards!!!

you should not have problems with kryps. They are a relatively easy wheel to slide when you look at their softness.

The DH will slide out easier then most other boards because of the drop. I could slide mine with Kryptos pretty easily. Keep the trucks loose if you want to slide easier.

i am pretty sure it isn't the wheels, i have tried sliding with really loose trucks and with tighter trucks, the tighter trucks definetly slide out easier

k well ill try tightening the trucks when i go out riding again tonight and ill post back. and for the guy that said he didnt understand how ppl can like kryptos i just like it because it is a preety big wheel and is moderately priced. eventually ill get some flywheels but i dont have 90$ to spend right now. everything is going to my car so i need to wait. it sucks but then maybe i can drive to some sick hills!

    Default Slide

Its probably got alot to do with your form...when you approach the slide, try to throw the majority of your weight over the ground. When i slide facing downhill i try to throw my ass off the board and catch my weight on my slide glove, then apply the weight back onto the board to control it.When facing away from the hill i try to get my knee close to the ground, and slide out the back end by unweighting my rear foot.Less weight on board= better slide....

    or go faster, whatever works

good point. if you've never slid on another board, you probably have it wrong. the more weight you put on your hands, which most people have trouble doing when they start, the less there is in your board. the less weight on your board, the easier it'll slide. trust your hands more and transfer more weight off of your board, then steer it from the rails with your feet.

right after a rainfall is a gurantee you'll slide. splash down a nice amount of H20 on a large area if it's dry out like it is here. yesterday, it was 107. tom. it'll drop in the low 80's w/ rain - radikal!

yeah tightening the trucks definately didnt help if anything it made it worse. i will try to put more weight on my hands too tho. i dont think its that im not going fast enough though.. im going at a good clip when i try slides. the whole way i even started sliding was actually an accident. I went to just turn hard and i did a 180 slide. just made it look like i meant to do that and it was all good

I have found tight trucks work better for short wheelbases/hard wheels but to get a good slide going downhill you want loose you you can just carve really hard and it will lose grip.
