    Default Riser Pads

What size riser pads (1/4", 1/8" or 1/2") should I need for my sliding board?

It depends on wheel size, truck model, truck tightness, board's concave and/or cut-outs, etc.

It's really up to what your board can handle and what you like.

Personally, I like my slide board as low as possible, so i just run an 1/8th inch shock pad under the deck.

I'm thinking of building something, what material should I use?

Mark and Good Ole Days, I've got an Element deck (31"), I just bought a pair of Independent Stage 9 trucks (129). The deck is concave on both ends and on the rails. I was thinking of getting 1/8" risers on there. And using Polka Dots for wheels (65mm/96a).

Start with a single 1/8", but be prepared to add another if the trucks are on the loose side.

Thanks, Mark! I'll try the 1/8" risers. Hey, do you happen to have nuts and bolts? The hardware didn't come with the trucks.

Search my site for "mounting hardware".

And to figure out the length of the h/w, add 1" to the height of your risers (1/2" for deck, 1/2" for truck baseplate and nut).

    I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.

    Gimpskool, funny.

I have indy's with 66mm wheels and 1/8" risers on my newest board.

This is my sliding rig and the trucks are medium tight.

Wheelbite is possible and I have has some.

But for sliding I like it low and I'm not really cranking the trucks over like on a carving rig.

So 1/8" seems ok for now. If I get pitched off the board I might go for some flux lighted risers or some wedge risers or 1/2" risers.

    Or smaller wheels. Maybe 60 - 62mm.

I like the lowness of the indy's in comparison to my randal's. And the feel
and action is better for sliding, imo.

I got some 97a Gravity Street G wheels and they might be TOO hard. Sure they slide great but they are slow on medium to rough pavement (regular roads really) and I got pitched when I hit some tiny rocks.

I'm thinking of getting some softer wheels that will still slide well.

    Any suggestions?

96a no skoolz silversurfer, they arent that rough really on a rough road, pretty darn smooth, and still slide very very nicely, could be tough to get used to at first cause they are very slippery and a little tough to control, but overall i like them alot

Any durometer Noskoolz from 88a on up are good slide wheels, depending on how soft a ride you like/ how slick you like your wheels.
