Full rotation pendulums
Hi, I just got a BE40 last month and have been working on sliding more. I can do heelside pendulum except for the fact that I don't get it all the way 180 before I revert back (I used the Faltown Slide Skool and Cliff's recent Faltown Clinic videos as my teaching guides).
Whenever I try to push the board to a full 180, I think I get too much weight on my front foot (left) and none on my backfoot (right) and I pop off as the board kind of bucks me off. I think I extend my body too far from my board, or I don't push out my rear leg enough... I will get a video of when I get knocked off, but I was wondering if you could take a lot at this and see if there are suggestions to my body positioning that you could suggest off the bat.

Thanks

I may not be the best slide teacher as I am fairly new myself. But try to get your body to rotate more before you slide. Use your arms to wind up so that you have more force taking you in the direction you want to slide.
See if that works

I don't think you understand. I can swing my arms harder and swing the heelside slide into a full 180, but when I do, my weight isn't distributed over the board properly (very little weight on the back foot). So basically when I swing harder, I'm shifting my weight incorrectly... compared to the Faltown skater, my body is more towards the nose and behind the board more and I'm going to try to fix that, I was wondering if you have any other suggestions.

I am not the greatest slider, but i have been studying Clif's videos to get better at the pendulum's too. Anyways, when you watch clif or those guys do it, their back leg is flat on the board, and the front leg is extended over the nose and more angled than yours.

Yeh man, you have the right motion and body position it looks like. Maybe a little more commitment. Only other thing I can think of is trying to move your sliding hand closer to your rear trucks (or just leaning more into the slide), this will help you weight the edge more and hopefully bring the board around more. Don't know if this helps, but if you keep trying I guarentee you will get it, your close man.

Yeah man move your sliding hand back more. So its pretty much straight at the elbow stick out behind you. Good luck man they are wicked fun.

do I start off placing it farther back, or as I twist do I the pull it behind me more and straighten my arm?
thanks!

Cool that did trick. I think previously what was happening was because my slide hand was so far in front I wasn't turning my shoulders enough, so even if I swing my arm harder, my lower body/board rotation was slightly blocked because my upper torso wasn't fully rotating (even if I was swinging my free hand harder). Now that I straighten my arm and pull it more towards the rear trucks, it frees up my shoulders to do a full twist.
Thanks guys. I'm going to practice it some more and then move to toeside pendulums, so far on that I think the main issue is not enough speed because I can do it, but I'm basically not moving by the time I come all the way back (does anyone else notice it requires more speed for a toeside pendulum?)

For toeside pendulums I have noticed that the speed required is directly related to how close you get your chest to the ground. If you stick your ass way up in the air and bend your body in half with your hands on the ground you can get a pendulum really quick( if you don't get kicked off). However no matter how hard I try I can't get a pendulum with my body next to the ground(down part of a push up) unless I am diong about 20 mph if I want to ride away. Toesides for me definately required more distance.

Yeah
Sliding is sweet, I'm working on the pendulum too.
