    Default I can't slide.

I have been practicing sliding all day. I cant do it. I've watched 3000000000 YouTube videos, read stuff on the fish, and I always carve really hard, fall, or my two wheels further away from me lift off the ground and I carve hard, again. It's pissing me off. Anyone have any tips for me. I've tried different speeds, slower and faster I can't do it. Help. Please.

your gonna hate this but all you need to do is try harder and more. I have told many others this, longboarding is not easy and it takes skill, dedication, and determination. Just keep trying and sooner or later you will get it.

My best advice is concentrate on form, once you have the form down the rest will come.

Well im gonna be "that" guy who says go faster.
Make sure your going AT LEAST fast enough that in your mind you're saying "No ******* way, ill fall" any slower and it will take a long time to learn. Pad up.

Always always always go faster. Get comfy supporting your weight with a hand on the ground. Also work on rotating that back knee forward. Really helps the back wheels break traction.

If your wheels are lifting that means ur trucks are too tight or your bushings are too hard, fix that lol I recommend starting with hands down slides... But anyways.. Go faster, twist ur upper body, look where you want to to, go faster, put most of ur weight on your front foot and think of it like you're holding a watermelon and you're trying to throw it, kick out your back foot and commit

Alright guys thanks, i'll head out tomorrow and try again. As of now my ass has rocks in it, and my calves are chewed up. I was hauling and I thought I got it once and my board just kicked out from under me. I think I had too much weight leaning back.

Do you think it has to do with the duro of my wheels? I heard that it doesn't matter, but i'm wondering. And should I tighten up my trucks more? They're pretty loose now because I was just cruising before to get the hang of things.

loose trucks are easier to slide on, put more weight on your hand and kick your board out more

I don't think I'm twisting my body enough, that might be the problem. But my trucks are so loose and I have 83a cone boardside and barrel roadside.

For standup 180*s rotating your shoulders by 'throwing' your arms in the direction of the slide can help a lot.

This can also help you to deweight the back end of your board. Start from a compact kinda crouched position and when you want to slide: carve hard, stand up (not all the way up, bent knees are your friends) and swing your shoulders and arms forward and across your body in the direction you want to go.

Swinging your trailing arm for a coleman is also important. Swing that thing up and across your chest in the direction of the slide, then after you have swung into switch (remember to keep your eyes/head pointed downhill) swing that arm back the other way to pendy back to your regular stance.

How long have you been longboarding? If you just started, maybe you should just work on carving and getting comfortable on your board.

A couple weeks, but i found carving and stuff too easy the more I skated. So I decided learning to slide would give me a challenge, which it has.

Oh oh oh! This helped me a shitload! There's a big difference between carving when just ur feet turning the board, and carving when ur whole body controls the board. When u do your carves lean ur entire body into, whip your weight back and forth. Then do a hard toeside setup carve and then whip your weight HARD (giggity) and do an even HARDER (double giggity) heelside carve, that's when you wanna push hard with your back foot. Remember it is all one big fluid motion and to look where you wanna go. I remember when learning that that was the key stuff that helped me learn

GOT ONE. I decided to go outside and try again. BOOM. Got it, went way faster than before and put a lot of weight on my arm, and kept looking toward where I wanted to go. I fell afterwards, but it's good. I'm stoked.
