Re: What's the best slide puck material???
It might be the hill you are on...When I FIRST tried my UHMW pucks I was on a hill that made them feel really sticky...After a few sessions they started to slide better and lasted for months.
If the pucks feel like wax however, you might have bought the wrong stuff. The right stuff is very dense, you shouldnt even be able to put a fingernail imprint in it if you try.

Re: What's the best slide puck material???
I agree with wd, gots to wear in your uhmw. Get it all grainy and ####, slides alot better after good use. Lasts a WHILE too. I nice routered edge makes em slide nice too, mostly becuase of the decrease contact area of the puck.

Re: What's the best slide puck material???
ya, i was just using them for the first time, it started to get a little better after a while so i guess i just have to wear them a bit
the whole thing didn't feel like wax, it was just the part that was grippy

Re: What's the best slide puck material???
i've used hand brushes not the ones for hair but for scrubing floors, boats, and what have u. just some small hand brushes with flat plastic holding spot and melt it to ur glove and then the bristles have lil friction on the road and it last a long time and when the bristles r gone u still have about 1 or 1/2 a inch of plastic left. and it cleans the rocks off the road
-
Re: What's the best slide puck material???
You use the bristles as the sliding material? Tell me how much you like that after you end up in the hospital with a broken wrist or something along those lines...

No, most cutting boards are just some type of polyethylene or polypropolene (sp?). The more expensive types of cutting boards (20-30 bucks) might be some sort of UHMW, but you would be better off buying a sheet from McMaster Carr or from Ebay to ensure you are getting the right stuff.

I know for a FACT that you wont be doing any 100+ foot slides with those things. You might be able to do quick little coleman slides, but there is no way in hell those bristles slide for a long distance.

Re: What's the best slide puck material???
so recently i've been using my new uhmw pucks and let me say that they are great
the hill that i normally slide on shaves plastic off my cutting board pucks and probably would have gone through a 1/4 inch on my cutting board, but the uhmw didn't wear at all after a 3 1/2 hour sesh

Re: What's the best slide puck material???
whatever landyachtz uses for their slide gloves work great, and I swap that slide puck with the one that comes with the new loaded gloves, which ain't that bad, but the landyachtz one kicks ass.

Re: What's the best slide puck material???
UHMW is standard cutting board. a UHMW dealer is actually named Cutting Boards and polyethylene at The Cutting Board Factory
I use them and they are great. but the closest I get to slide is slopestyle, and that is pretty minimal for me.
