holy #### batman! that could actually work.... multiple spherical balls that could rotate in any direction? in a sense, wheels for your hands?!
i like it.... it may just very well have a future

Re: What's the best slide puck material???
too bad that as soon as the balls got even a bit out of shape it wouldnt work anymore...
but if you made them out of something indestructible then you might have something

you could try a street hockey puck, the kind with the roller balls in it.
just velcro it to your glove like a normal puck I guess.
but i don't know if they're designed to hold any weight. the balls might just recess when you put your weight on the puck.
then they'd be not slick enough...i dunno. l'm interested

Re: What's the best slide puck material???
what if you try the steel balls for sling shots those could hold up really good. but how would have have them stay in place but still have no friction cause when you put your hand down the balls would hit your palm or whatevers above the balls?

Re: What's the best slide puck material???
I've been using corian solid surface material for a while now and it don't wear down as fast as cutting board and the slide is a lot faster... You can see in the pic the mark left behind from my right hand and you can see other marks from previous slides.. Its kinda the chalk dust...

Re: What's the best slide puck material???
BClongboards.com has some nice pucks if you havent seen them yet they are polyethylene so they are very low coefficient of friction, are self-lubricating, and are highly resistant to abrasion they are odorless and tasteless so if u wanna smell or lick them u cant xD

Re: What's the best slide puck material???
The best slide pucks are made out of thousand year old frozen egyptian bull sperm. But you have to have them kept frozen, which causes many riders to have to resort to other, less successful materials like UHMW-PE and Ben Affleck's compressed chest hair.
Back when I knew how to use the force, I could just levitate above the ground though. Those were fun times.
Seriously though...corian samples are free. Everyone should make their first set of gloves.

Hey, I'm trying to make my first set of slide gloves. right now I have some work gloves, industrial velcro from home depot, and 4x4 corian. I'm trying to figure out how to put it together. also should I try and make the corian into circles for the 2 fingers and the palm?

Re: What's the best slide puck material???
I really haven't tried much materials for my gloves. The standard loaded gloves work really well. I usually use pre cut tile samples on my gloves. They come free, too!
