Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
Picked up some materials today for my gloves. Not too sure how the velcro I got will work because I didn't want to pay $20 for a whole roll of industrial so I picked up smaller pieces. Getting the Corian went much better than expected, me and my friend straight up told the countertop woman that we were going to use it for sliding gloves and she picked out the ugly colors and gave us 20 pieces! Will post pics if I can get the velcro to work.

I'd also recommend probably getting some shoe goo for attaching the velcro to the gloves, depending on what material they are.

That's awesome. I just had my parents ask for a few whenever they went to Home Depot. I wasn't keeping track of how many I had and now I have about 20, all stashed in a drawer. Haha.
By the way, if you got industrial strength velcro with the adhesive backing, you should be able to stick that straight onto the corian with no trouble whatsoever. Don't use any extra adhesive, the stuff already on it is good enough. Cut off a few little squares, slap them on some corian, stack them, put some weight on them (not sure if this is needed but I did it anyway), and wait a while. I left mine for two days just in case, but I bet a day or even overnight would be good enough. Then you can take a knife or other blade and shave off whatever extra velcro there is hanging off the edges.

Yeah, I actually just set them up so i'll put some weight on them and let them sit. Hopefully I'll have time to try them out tomorrow. I'm not totally sure if this velcro is industrial or not so I guess i'll find out when I test them out. Here's a picture:
I ran out of velcro for the other 2 fingers on each glove too . I'll probably end up buying some industrial anyway.
Glove UPDATE: Rode with them today for almost 3 hours, worked perfectly! Once I get more velcro for the other fingers these things will be sick.

Neither. Delrin slides better than anything else that's currently available. It does wear faster than UHMW though...
Gravitys pucks are made from delrin.

2 ideas: Go to home depot, go to the home improvement section and snag some Corian Tile samples. they're free. OR buy a cutting board (plastic, not wood) and cut it up with a saw. Both slide just as well as black velvet and cost wayyyyyy less.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
How repetitive is this thread? Yes, we know corian is free.
The fact is, corian wears down in one session (if you skate hard enough). This means you wasted $5 on velcro. Spend another $5 on velcro for free corian, still wasting money.
It's called economics you idiots. Wasting money on something that is mediocre for sliding (corian/cutting board) for short-term use still adds up in the end. It makes more sense to spend $10 on something like BV Slide Pucks and have them last for a full year, instead of continuously dropping cash every month for some crappy sliding cutting board. That $10 goes a long way. I guarantee you waste at least $30 in a year on cutting board or supplies for corian.

Generally, in economics, if you insult your "target market" then push your "product", you dont get a good response.
With that being said, I'd recommend Darkspeed Slide Pucks, Tactis Halar Pucks/Blue Circle Pucks, or Black Velvets to people using corian who are looking for a better, slicker puck.

Actually Corian lasts fairly long....a guy I skate with slides on some fairly rough concrete and his are still doing fine. WAYYYYY better than the pucks that came with my $40 Gravity Slide gloves......that's the last time I buy expensive sht while the free stuff out performs me. Corian owns.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
my gloves cost me 0 dollars so i'm happy... i might be getting new ones because i need a strap and want tighter fitting gloves i would go to lowes to get corian but honestly 2 by 2 pucks are just dumb when i only use a palm puck. so i might be checking out BV or see if i can score some uhmw scrapes. heres a pic of the old ones actually turned out well and lasted a year

Not true. Corian and cutting board slide like crap. Wear so fast that it's not worth it and cutting board doesn't slide well at all. Actually way more expensive in the long run too.
IF you want the most economical option of all, just get the UHMWPE that Black Velvet and Darkspeed use and cut it yourself. You'll have enough to last yourself a reallly long time, and you'll have leftover to give to local buddies.

hmm so since 6' of industrial strength velco is $7 and you use 1 sq" per puck it seems if you bring extra pucks with you ........ where was I going with this? oh well .
