Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
Can't lie, thanks for the ideas everyone. I went with a cutting board because it was cheap and I wanted something thinner for better feel. Cost 1.99 and took me 30 min to cut, shape, and attach the pucks. Plus it matches my grippins nice. After a month of use the pucks are still in decent shape.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
you guys are all talking about how expensive this stuff is.. ever tried snagging a pair of gloves from home depot, then taking a few road pucks and just melting those to the glove?
takes about 5 min and its free.. or you can just buy the gloves still, they are like 2 pairs for $5 at home depot. melting it to the glove is way better than velcro
those road pucks take forever to wear out, i have a pair that i made using one of the flat road pucks and the nicer gloves that stay on better that have lasted me a year.

So I traveled in a wagon with George W. Bush, Dick Cheaney, John Ashcroft, and Condoleezza Rice. During the journey, the group encountered a case of cholera, a broken arm, two wagon fires, one fever. Condoleezza Rice got fleas and died, but that's because she was having relations with the oxen. Dick Cheaney got bitten by a snake. Ashcroft - he ended up dying of dysentery. and bush got killed by indians. but thats the Oregon Trail for you.

The Black Velvets (or Darkspeed) Slide Pucks are really a great purchase. They last waaaay longer than corian or any other puck from any other slide glove.

YAY AP ECON! pretty much exactly i was thinking.
If you honestly think corian lasts, even on rough concrete, i take that as evidence that you don't skate that hard. If I do a 60 ft. layback slide on fairly rough cement it takes my pucks down probably about 1mm. Sliding down a 2 mile run of the same pavement, corian pucks are razors a the bottom. I've gone through 10ft of fricken velcro with corian and I will say I am not going back. I've been using black velvets for a while now and they arent even half way through. plus i'm gonnna flip them and I have a brand new radius.
velcro is 8 dollars a roll if I recall. Black velvets are only a little more. it is worth it to me to skate on equipment that I trust.
I'm not sure what gravity pucks you used, if they are the white ones those are pretty much cutting board. The black pucks are delrin, a different material, which still doesnt last as long as a UHMW puck.

gorilla glue the puck to a patch of cloth and sew the cloth to the glove. or just straight gorilla glue the puck to the glove. that works too (if you don't mind needing to buy a whole set of new gloves once the tiles wear down).

or gorilla glue the piece to a piece of velcro and then sew velcro to the glove. i found that works better.

NOT good. I went to Home Depot and got different small slabs of tile, including marble, because they were cheap and the perfect size. Total waste of money. They all shattered.

Household GOOP. same thig as shoe goo, made by the same company, costs less and holds better than Gorilla Glue. In my experience Gorilla Glue is way too brittle to be effective for very long.
