Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
I used some of that Gel superglue to glue corian samples to those cheap leather gloves from Home Depot, but it's not making a very strong connection. I feel like I could easily tear them off.
Should I ditch the gel and use some Gorilla Glue? It seems like it would work a lot better if I used something that I could spread liberally and really get down into the texture of the gloves.
thanks.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
How would I go about protecting finger tips? I can't stand having pucks on the fingers because I loose all my dexterity. I have a rather large palm puck, but it's only about 1/3 of an inch thick, and I often find myself grazing the finger tips and thumbs. I've been using Duct tape to protect the finger tips, but I can shred a piece of duct tape in about 2 slides. I would appreciate some suggestions.
Goto another Lowes/Home Depot. Someone within 10 miles of you will have free samples for sure.

either learn to like finger pucks, or learn to keep your fingers up.

IMO a properly designed finger puck still allows the glove to have decent dexterity....
you're not going to be picking your nose, but you can still grab rail
-
Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
Truthfully, I really don't even grab rail that much. The dexterity is a "if I can have it, I want it" personal preference thing.
It's not that I need to "learn" to use finger pucks either, my first and second set of gloves had two different versions of finger pucks.
I've also learned to keep my fingers up, there are just sometimes when I'm paying more attention to what my feet are doing, and less to my fingertips, ya know?
Furthermore, after trying several times to get UHMW to stick to goatskin leather, it just won't cooperate. I have full goatskin leather gloves with palms and various other sections reinforced with suede. The Suede bonds very well after a torch has been taken to the pucks, but not the leather. I suppose if I could get the stuff to bond, I might try some finger pucks again.

The best way i have found is to take industrial strength velcro and sew it to the glove! Then the corian pieces are removable...

I dont use a thumb puck and i just wrap it in duck tape. Like wrap it around about 5 times and it works pretty good for me

I have pucks on all ten fingers of some leather gloves and they stay on.
1-1/2" Delrin tube from McMaster-Carr
Saw 6 inch slot down the middle of the tube with jigsaw
Slice off 5 1 inch sections of split tube resulting in 10 one inch long half tubes
Rough up inside surface of each puck with coarse sandpaper
Glue to gloves with 3M Super90 contact cement (follow the two-coat instructions on the can)
I use my fingers inside the glove and/or a one inch wooden dowel inside the glove to keep the pucks pressed tightly against the glove for 5 minutes.

What should be done to replace pucks, or apply new ones after they have worn out?
Also, and I don't mean to bug ya, but how about some pics if you have any?

Just glue a new one on.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
That is the #### my friend. Thank you for the help.
I think I might drill a hole through the end of the tube (six inches deep), then cut the slot, and then cut off the 1 inch pieces. This way the fingers will fit into nice little seats on the back of the finger pucks.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
alright so I'm gonna be making a pair, what is this corian? tile? if so, isn't that annoyingly heavy?
and why are you using velcro, is it just to make the pucks replaceable?
my original plan was to buy some regular work gloves, cut up my cutting board and just glue it. and ask a clerk about which glue would work best fabric/cutting board wise.
