Corian tiles work GREAT for me! They chip every once and a while but its no big deal! I've been using mine for 4 months and they're still going strong! I would def recommend using them...screw plastics!

And yeah, corian is technically a plastic, but it's more like synthetic granite. I prefer uhmw, it's lighter in weight, less noisy & less drag IMO.
I like how you did individual grip on each finger, seems like you can try any shape or orientation you would want with your materials. How did you route it with such small pieces? did you just flip it over and work it like a surfacer (routing table essentially)?

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
I honestly don't know exactly how it was accomplished. My friend hooked them up for me, he used to do a lot of wood work & still has all the tool/bits & what-not. He did say that it was far easier to do with the corian though, apparently the uhmw is a lot harder to sand & form. The industrial velcro with adhesive backing sticks really well to leather, no gorilla or shoe goo needed, and yeah... with the individual fingers, you can really position your fingers & pucks in a position that's most comfortable & stable for your preference/style. sha-weeet.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
I've personally purchased some black velvet slide pucks, awesome pucks for cheap. However I will support the use of corian tiles...they last forever, great ware, slide smooth, but are a bit loud. Home depot has them in sample drawer in the floor tiling section...five-finger discount anyone?

To solve this problem i just gave my friend half the cutting board if he would help me cut mine. ( He has every tool imaginable.) Well, thats my story ill post up pics when im finished.
I also had trouble finding these "round road turtles".
I might have seen a few trapezoid-ish shaped "road turtles" (I'm not sure if they were or not)...
I got some at Lowes I like them alot they have all different colors to choose from. They aren't in the drawers though, they had a small box thing on a table where they displayed 1 tile for every color.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
Corian gloves, they look shinny coz I epoxy them and let set before velcro,I used a khiro riser as template for palm puck and use left over for fingers .
I used a jig saw with a fine wood blade, and re-rounded edges with a palm sander, flexible epoxy on glove to have a better adhesion surface so velcro don't comes off.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
i just got back from home depot and i got 8 or so 2x2 corian tile samples, paired in different colors. i also bought some harbinger classic lifting gloves, which cost about 23$, but it has some decent wrist wrap supports, which i was looking for. i bought industrial strength velcro and i'm about to put my glove together, but i can't decide if i'm going to just use 1 corian tile per glove, or 2. i'm not much into sliding, so i'm not going to be getting down on the ground much. probably just gonna use them for protection and doing the occasional slide to slow down. do you guys think 1 puck would be enough for this?

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
I think the minimum should be 3 if you're using corian samples. I use 4 for mine because I feel like I have more coverage, since the 2x2 is kind of small. But the reason for that is sometimes when you put the hand down the fingers have a tendency to drag down as well and that's why I think you should have one piece for every two fingers (excluding the thumb) and one more piece on the center of your palm.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
hm, well, i got half gloves, cus my goal was more to have protection for my palms(i already shredded my left one nastily twice) and have decent wrist protection. i'm not really planning on doing much sliding or any crazy downhill(nothing past 30, maybe 40). anyway, i decided to put two tiles on the palm.
another question though, does it matter which part of the velcro i put on which? on the pictures i've seen, the fuzzy part is attached to the glove. does it matter?

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
I made my 1st gloves
I used shoe goo to put the corian pieces on the gloves, i'm not sure its the best, but it works for now.

Im still proud of my 1st gloves, very sketchy, but i think they'll work

I would put the fuzzy part on the corian piece or whatever piece you're using. that way, when and IF the fuzzy part of the velcro starts wearing out you can just replace it. but if the fuzzy part was on the glove and it wears out, it's pretty hard to get off unless you didn't use the right glue.
