I disagree. Somewhere in the "how to make slide gloves" thread, someone pointed out the fact that if the hook (non-fuzzy) part is attached to the glove side, it can be easily damaged or melted by scraping it across the ground, rendering it useless. By having the fuzzy part on the gloves, even if it scrapes, it will not impact the useability of the velcro. Also, the fuzzy side is more flexible & i find it easier to adhere to the glove. And realistically, your gloves should be falling apart before the velcro goes bad...at least, that's been the case with mine.

I made mine with the Fuzz side on the glove, I think the Hooks wear out from repeated use more then the fuzz, but I haven't had to replace my pucks too much, so I guess I'll have to let time be the judge. Good point about scraping, and flexibility, I think that makes perfect sense.

A couple tips I found making gloves.

First gloves that have split grain, closer to rawhide adhere to Sticky Back(industrial velcro backer), and Shoogoo, the best in my book. You can tell by looking closely at the glove. If it looks like it has tiny grains, and splits kind of like a chunky fur, that's the stuff you want. Sueded leathers, and faux leather doesn't adhere nearly as well as split grain. I like the Stanley work gloves. They have a good leather, nylon mesh uppers, and a rubber strap. Reinforce the stiching where the strap is attached to the glove. It's the weakest link with the way we use gloves.

If you shoogoo any of the fingers together, either turtle, or mitten style, stuff the fingers with something to retain the shape. The weight of shoogoo is enough to misshapen the glove. I just tear apart grocery bags, and stuff the fingers, and reshape it before I glue them together.

Just seems a bit sparse. If you're getting the 2X3 Staron pucks, slap em on both gloves. Also when you have fingers exposed I think it adds risk of them getting snagged . I use 2 staron 2X3's, and six 2X2's. I set them up Ninja turtle style with a 2X3 across the upper hand, and an extra 2x2 on the wrist. I use to split a 2X2 pucks for the thumbs, but as soon as I tried them without thumbs, I realized I didn't need them.

Have you tested them out yet?

Yeah, they were out of the 2x3, there was only one, and i don't go to home depot at all usually, so i had to do with what they had.
I tried em out today, the one set up with the staron felt a lot better, and i felt sketchy with the 2x2 on the palm.
But its all i got, ill get used to it

Yeah, you got to deal with the cards you're dealt. If it's the first time you've used gloves it's a whole new world in it's self. so the Shoe goo is holding the pucks alright?

I wasn't very confident about the shoe goo.
But it seems to be holding really good actually, better than i expected.
But i do believe they will have to be reglued sometime.

But yeah, i have friends that are gonna be riding with me soon, ill ask em tips on how to drift and slide and all that stuff.
They are more experienced, but down a straight hill, im always way faster than them.
I just need to learn about good turning and all that good stuff.

nice I got the same Stanley work gloves you're talking about. and it's a double win for me because if someone takes it i can just say it's mine, and if they say "i dont see you're name on it" i can just say "look at the strap" xP

Sry if someone has already asked this question before but I dont want to read through the whole thread..Im going to make some gloves with 2x2 corian samples on the fingers. One one the ring and pinky and one on the middle and pointer. Would it be best to super glue the fingers together before putting on the tiles?

shoe goo is good because you'll want a little flex, and superglue is brittle. It could work though, anything's possible. My next gloves I'm going to build without glueing the finger together, so I can switch up puck configurations, mitten or ninja.

I never glued the two fingers together, it should be fine, granted you don't just glue the corian samples onto the glove

thats good to know. I didn't want to advise him to do something I haven't tried yet because if it fails then that'd be my fault :P, but if it works for you then both ways, placing the corian on velcro and straight to the glove is fine

Does anyone press the Velcro onto the glove? I usually put some weight on the gloves after I attach the pucks. I was wondering how necessary it is, as I had a couple fails with sueded and fake leathers. Also how much does ambient heat factor into adhesion to the glove?

I personally don't like sticky back by itself, I had failure on one set of gloves on the first day of operation. Shoe goo is the best In my book if applied liberally, but I've heard of people using carpet seam sealant to stick velcro fabric to the glove.

velcro plus shoe goo on the back of the velcro is a win
So I traveled in a wagon with George W. Bush, Dick Cheaney, John Ashcroft, and Condoleezza Rice. During the journey, the group encountered a case of cholera, a broken arm, two wagon fires, one fever. Condoleezza Rice got fleas and died, but that's because she was having relations with the oxen. Dick Cheaney got bitten by a snake. Ashcroft - he ended up dying of dysentery. and bush got killed by indians. but thats the Oregon Trail for you.
