Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
i used super glue on the velcro back to help it stick. worked well. also just a thought but i tried melting cutting board on my finger tips for some durability. now im talking about a thin layer of it not the whole thing. heat the board with a torch and wipe it on the tip of the finger. that way it doesn't make it hard to grab rail if you need to but it still saves the tips from wearing out so fast. let me know what you think its probably been done but its all original to me.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
I want to make my first sliding gloves, with cutting board, but I'm not sure if I'm better to melt the plastic with the torch to stick it onto the gloves, or use glue.. like crazy glue, or any kind of ultra glue..
help me please

If you are using some cheap gardening gloves just melt it to them. If they are any gloves you care about and are going to replace the pucks on once they wear out, use industrial strength velcro.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
With the melting technique, is it strong enough, not to come off when I will slide..?

I use industrial velcro with glue reinforced with tailor stitching(I felt sorry for him). I used these for garages and neighborhood street runs but not actual sliding so I have no idea if they will hold up to that type of abuse.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
hey does anyone have any good suggestions for full fingered gloves with a supportive wrist strap, similar to the harbinger ones? i wanna make some slide gloves that protect my whole hand and my wrists, without the hassle of wearing wrist guards over or under it. i've been looking at goalie and lineman gloves, but the goalie gloves look a bit bulky and i'm not sure if the lineman gloves have any wrist support.

you get industrial strength velcro, and use it to stick the slide puck to the glove. it's great so if your puck gets worn down over time, you can get new ones and just stick it right onto your glove. the idea of having velcro hold the puck to the glove sounds sketchy at first, but it really stays on.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
I spent nearly two hours stitching velcro to one of my old protec kneepads. My finger tips were messed up, so with the other kneepad I just melted cutting board onto it.
Do yourself a favour, don't bother doing anything with needle and thread. Agh ... such a waste of time.

So I traveled in a wagon with George W. Bush, Dick Cheaney, John Ashcroft, and Condoleezza Rice. During the journey, the group encountered a case of cholera, a broken arm, two wagon fires, one fever. Condoleezza Rice got fleas and died, but that's because she was having relations with the oxen. Dick Cheaney got bitten by a snake. Ashcroft - he ended up dying of dysentery. and bush got killed by indians. but thats the Oregon Trail for you.

to CharlieDeft: about wrist support gloves, you can try taking those corian samples and taking them down a half size and placing that on the wrist area. all you need are work gloves that go a little past your wrists so you have room the place something there.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
I wanted to post up a shot of the gloves I made for my 6 year old son. He really likes longboarding, and his gloves really help him learn to stop safely. I ordered the thumb pucks and installed them as his palm pucks. I found the small construction gloves at OSH.

oh, for wrist support i meant it wraps around the wrist and supports it so i have less chance of breaking or spraining my wrist. kind of like how boxers wrap their wrist so they don't break it, or how weight lifting gloves have a wrap around strap to add more wrist support. thanks tho.

I don't think you really need wrist supports. slide gloves allow your hands to slide (obviously )... so the force is slowly dissipated. you don't really get the blunt impact
