i do. i also use my gloves as protection for my hands and wrists on top of sliding. and after 7 years of boxing/muay thai, my wrists need all the protection they can get. i used work gloves with no wrist wrap for a while and it was great, but the first time i took a spill with those gloves, my wrists got a bit busted up. i have harbinger lifting gloves that i've been using and they're great for protecting my palm and wrist, but my fingertips scrape the ground every so often and it's not pretty. i know i can ducktape my fingers, but i don't find it practical since i'm usually on the run. so i'm looking for full fingered gloves with wrist straps. i thought they wouldn't be too hard to find, cus what i'm asking for isn't outrageous, but after hours of searching last night, i haven't found very many practical options. i'm going to goto some sporting stores today and see if any of the linebacker or goalie gloves have decent wrist protection on them. wish me luck.

    Default Black Velvets

Hi everyone, I'm gonna be making a pair of slide gloves next week hopefully. I bought a really nice pair of working gloves at B&Q (that's right, I'm English) and have ordered some Black Velvet slide pucks. I'll post a picture when I've made them... or will it not count as home made if I buy pre made pucks?

Anywayz, just thought I'd let you all know.

Good to hear you keep improving those blue pucks, definitly the most versitile pucks i've used (just slightly more slick than UHMW is). I tried the first runs of those pucks though so i'm not sure how they've changed.

Haul pacs in the mining industry have used it for years! This is an upgraded version for the semiconductor industry for high speed robotic hoists and shuttles. It is designed for high torque and continuous duty load bearing surfaces... and it's dark blue8)

Anyone ever use Corian ( acrylic countertop )?

I have a bunch of scrap, Its super hard, I don't think Ill be able to melt it onto gloves.

Does anyone know if it slides well, or any pros and cons?

My friend bought some fiberglass cast material, and rigged up this riggid slide glove out of them.

Instead of sliding on his palms, he would make a fist and slide on his knuckles.

Inside the cast there was a handle for him to hold, and it was padded on the inside. He would slide it on, Grab the handle, then tighten the whole thing on with straps.

You can kinda see it on his right hand in this picture.

They work good enough that you would use them if it wasnt free?

Does it work better then cutting boards?

It's all preference and I got to say I enjoy the corian samples by far and it's less of a hassle to make (assuming you wanna make the cutting board stick more and you heat the bottom side of it). It doesn't matter that the corian samples are free, that's just a plus 8)

Corian easily beats cutting boards. Guaranteed. Cutting boards are stickier, and wear out quick due to the fact that they have a lower melting point and low molecular density. They'll work, but if you have access to Corian scraps, you'll be happy.

You'll want to bevel the edges if at all posible, when you have sharp edges, you're more likely to catch your pucks in cracks and such. Melting corian is hard (due to the higher melting point) most people use Industrial Velcro.

Here I have Mechanix and Black Velvet Slide Pucks.

CLC Gloves and BV's. CLC are good gloves. Very light and very cool on the hands; very thin material though, definitely will rip.

    i suck at searching

any glues or adhesives that will attach themselves to gloves better than shoe goo?
my velcro seems to be getting pulled off due to the lack of adhesion from the shoe goo. or should i just lather more on?
im gonna make some gen 2 gloves and want them to hold up to puck removal and placement.

Anyone know of a good adhesive to attach corian pucks to cheap leather? I've been using a combo of gorilla and super glues, and they stick on there for sure but the bond tends to tear on the edges. Really I think it's the plastic that the glue is having a hard time bonding to.

I've heard spray on adhesive can be gnarly. I don't know the melting temp of corian but I guess that would do it too.
