I've heard spray on adhesive can be gnarly. I don't know the melting temp of corian but I guess that would do it too.

It's usually more of the leather, interesting how you say it's the corian that it's having a hard time sticking to

I guess thats just what i can expect when living in Canada but no hardware store will give corian tiles just like that, they're locked up and even after making up a number and name they only let me leave with two :/ So i came to the conclusion that i might as well put a little money into this and stop being so cheap by buying UHMW, ive called various hardware stores and they say they never heard of it, should i maybe call it something else? because this is truly starting to frustrate me

you can't find UHMW at hardware stores... only plastic dealers

and you have to buy in large quantities generally. I have to buy 5 feet of rod at a time

anybody ever try melting the cutting board and then pouring it into a mold or letting it cool in the pan. If so how and what are the bad effects.

PE will melt and flow but UHMW will just sit there and scorch... no real health issues but DON'T catch it on fire!!!!!

You wont be able to put it out very easily and it could burn down your house.

The sheet is stress relieved and press rolled and you will never be able to match the density that they do at the factory...8)

The carbon black filler stabilizes the material for temperature cycles among other properties.
It slides better and cuts less than the natural milky white material. carbon also is a good friction lubricant.8)

As an engineer you must know that UHMW is polyethylene, just the ultra high molecular weight type.

Yes but you will need heat and pressure to make it slow flow... XLPE is fully cross linked and will only properly flow once on the initial set and then you cant even weld it... I have worked with all of the thermoplastics for over twenty years. UHMW means Ultra High Molecular weight and many plastics come in LD, HD, UHMW and XL

PE is one of the most popular by association.

By the way the cross linked PE is great for slide durability and a lot cheaper than delrin.

We are using some of the lubricant filled PP and PE materials and they seem to be the best so far for both cost and slide qualities.

Anyway I would not recommend re melting these materials... it is way too easy to get good sheet stock.8)

Read this thread from the beginning.

I've always had good luck using McMaster-Carr for small quantities:

The new puck won't be as dense as it would be and I'm guessing the whole thing wouldn't be worth it. Why would you want to melt and remold it? It's already rolled into a flat sheet. If you're trying to save yourself the trouble of shaping and beveling the puck you're going to have to do the same to your moldx3

I have been using corian and cutting board , UNTIL NOW!! I got some blue yhunder slide pucks from Tactis And WOW. talk about a world of difference. corian is incredibly slow compared to these and cutting board ,while more slippery than corian, wears down too fast. These pucks slide for days! Thanks Big Daddy!

there are actually two gloves, but i only took pictures of one.

i went to lowes today and got mechanix gloves and industrial velcro. when i went back for corain samples the guy told me that he could give me a brochure, and that if i need to i can come back and check-out some samples. i made the pucks out of an old hockey stick blade.
