Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
Just made my new gloves today... Bulky leather work gloves and free corian samples from HomeDepot.
Corian is MUCH better than cutting boards. Just... letting you know.

I agree, very fast slide. though since i start hard wheel sliding, i go through a set of 3"x3" .5" thick pucks every 2-3 seshs. luckily i have like 40 pairs left

Uggghhhhhhhhhhh. Envy. I have to buy Corian samples, because in Canada I guess they enforce the "no samples for anyone unless they rent them and aren't a young adult" rule a lot here.
I did however scavenge (yay inspired by kraffft again) a 22" long, 2" wide, and 0.5" thick (!) piece of nylon from a dumpster recently :0
It was beside a dumpster outside a metal fab shop, I think they use it to prevent scratches on the metal, when sliding it in and out of racks.
Would make an okay palm puck, or better for the heel of the hand.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
The little known and hugely rewarding sport of dumpster diving. Win! My wife wants to hide on the floor board sometimes if we happen to be driving around on trash day. There's some fine treasures on the curb now and then.
Keep a box cutter in your vehicle and an eye peeled for furniture. Old leather and good thick naugahyde are worth stripping and saving big pieces.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
I found an xbox in a dumpster. It didn't work and I already had one; HOWEVER, at the time, EB Games bought xboxs that didn't work for $50 so they could repair them and sell them for 200. This was in 2004.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
I would like to get hold of some Corian samples, however I am not too sure if they are available from Australian hardware shops like Bunnings...Does anyone know?

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
I would just buy a good set of pucks, the time you spend trying to steal sample from home depot or anything could just as well be spent skating, and they'll slide better and last a lot longer too.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
Hi, I got some homemade slidegloves that are starting to look and feel really nasty and I want to replace them. I will probably tear the pucks off of these and put them on new garden gloves, but I also want to get manufactured sliding gloves which are built for the purpose.
I like the pucks I made allot as they are kinda big. The big puck in the palm, the one piece on the fingers and the big thumb puck allow me to place my hand completely flat if I like to which makes it very comfortable. For some reason (I have not tried yet) the gloves with only a palm and finger (no thumb) puck seem to leave the thumb exposed and I think, I use my thumb when I slide.
I've seen allot of gloves around and have been looking for a slide glove with the same kind of puck setup. So:
- A big puck in the palm
- One single or two pucks on the fingers
- A decent thumb puck
Any reccomendations?

mudslides look good, but i'd like something bigger still
black velvet looks great, any pictures of gloves with the palm and finger pucks on it?
What about BV thumb pucks?
Also, is it strange that I like thumb pucks? i see allot of gloves without them. Doesn't the glove rip at the thumb when sliding and doesn't your hand feel like you are leaning on the top of a 2x4 instead of on a flat surface?

3.25" to 3.5" diameter feels perfect to me. Anything bigger and you're compromising mobility

(I'm kind of like you though... I'd like to do away with finger/thumb pucks but it just feels wrong when I put the hand down with only a palm puck. I haven't tried it with just a thumb though)
Haha, true, that was a good diss opportunity indeed, thanks for skipping, lol.
Well, I actually got some loaded race gloves III at a good price. I wanted gloves fast and that what I could find now/here. They fit well, slide well and look better than my extreme gardening ones. I think because I got used to the gloves I made, I wanted something similar. When I tried the loaded ones though, I was surprised at how okay they felt afterall. Different, not as huge, but good.
