Nah, the flints didn't get near hot enough to ignite or melt anything. I could imagine magnesium creating much more sparks, but I would be careful with even though it ignites at 880*F, I think? (which friction from glove slide won't cause)... But when it does ignite...**** gets real. Also hot glue kinda creates drag, epoxy might work better.

Does magnesium spark? I'm pretty sure it doesn't.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
hae guys...im not sure whether to have finger, thumb and wrist pucks....mainly want to do coleman slides....can anyone please tell me the pros and cons of these puck placements and whether or not you think i need them.....at the moment i cannot really slide at all....thanks...........also, what is an easily accessable and cheap material to make into pucks that doesnt take alot of work to get into shape or need powertools...thanks
The goal of life isnt to walk to the finish line in a perfectly preserved body with a bottle of diet lemonade. The goal is to come racing in at max speed, pull of a supreme shut down slide, a ¼ full bottle of Jack Daniels in one hand and a downhill longboard in the other. Your body screaming from a bloody great and full life, and you shouting for more. This is how life should be! FR4EVA

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
I went for all three placements. I do a lot of slides on skatelite with my full hand so I thought that having all the pucks would be nice.
When I was making my cutting board gloves I cut it with a hand saw and it cut fine. Actually most plastics cut fine with a hand saw.

I've made 5 pair so far. The first ones had pucks everywhere. Now I'm down to just a palm puck ( makes grabbing and carrying the board easier as well as opening water bottles)-with that said my glove fingers have holes and have been plasti-dipped more than once. 1/2" cutting boards work nice. The pucks outlast the gloves for me, as I like the breatheable mechanic style. I also started out with a torch and hot glue, now I just use Velcro.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
I dipped my gloves with plasti dip and then took a paint brush and put a really thick coating of it on the pads of the fingers. Using a paint brush seems Superior to dipping because you can put a thicker coating on, be more precise, and be less messy.

Re: The Definitive Slide Gloves Thread
I just finished making some gloves the other day. I decided to make mine with the hook side of the velcro on the glove, and the loop side of the velcro on the pucks. I know this goes against "popular" belief about how to make slide gloves, but hey...who cares what's popular anyways? The gloves are still very flexible with the hook side of the velcro on them, and the pucks held beautifully to it today when I tested 'em for the first time. So far so good! I'll make sure to post pictures soon. I'm new to silverfish (i.e. I don't troll it everyday), so we'll see how long it is before I get the pics up.
