nice instructional vid, the only thing I would comment on is the fact that you should really bring the board completely 180 to and let the wheels catch back up on the road again in a coleman before swinging back into normal. the board never really seems to reach 180 except for maybe the last slide of the vid.

this reduces your chances of flatspotting as well as allowing one to maintain speed throughout the slide. hold it out longer for more style by keeping you free arm tucked in towards your body . in addtion you can add loads of variations to a coleman to keep them cool.

full 180 back parallel to the road, not just a bit over 90

yeah man, rip4stoke's style is GREAT!!!..................? seriously just because you do them differently does not mean its the right way. people develop thier own styles some people do short ones (sergio) and some people do long ones (dahl). when you bring the wheels parralell to your fall line, it doesent count as a slide anymroe so where is the style? also the way to get flatspots are if you are perpendicular to your fall line or if your bearings are seized or slow as poop. holding a slide at an angle will not give you flatspots as the wheels will continue to spin.

ALSO a coleman does nto NEED to be 180, anything you put to over 90 and back i would say counts as a coleman.

lets not be so picky, a coleman is a coleman, find your own style!

i wasn't trying to say my style was the right way, i wasn't actually really trying to push my style on anyone else. first and foremost I honestly don't really even have one or any IMO. I was actually just showing a pic of bringing the board 180 to the road that happened to be in my photobucket account

idk but on faltown and several other slide oriented sites they mention the coleman as bringing the board 180 on the road and bringing it back. forgive me if I'm wrong. if you bring your board out 180 it allows you to save some speed for coming out of the slide and conserve it in your run. I was simply recommending that you should really bring the board out 180 in a coleman, that's what I've learned in sliding with other guys and watching other vids.

after all a cliff coleman slide is a cliff coleman slide. it's a general invented slide well known by almost all in longboarding. forgive me if I'm wrong or if I was apparently impressing my way of doing colemans on anyone else who is trying to learn them , which I don't think I was. I was just trying to help give advice, I know I would've liked advice in learning colemans, took me a while to get the board to come back, bringing it out 180 helped me to get the speed to bring it back out originally, I'm just trying to help .

just physics fyi...holding your wheels perpendicular to your fall line causes your wheels to slow down and stop rotating because of the wheels rotational axis , the friction from the road does the rest. it is true that as long as the wheels are spinning they won't flatspot, but holding them perpendicular to your fall line causes them to stop spinning, bearings can affect how long this will take but it always happens eventually.

this is probably the last time I ever try to help a fellow slider out, well done andrew

another note: I've seen footy of sergio doing long and short colemans, same with dahl...don't really know where you're coming from there

i acctauly said that holding them perpendicular WILL flatspot them, re-read my post lol

when i say holding it at an angle, it means anything BUT 90 degrees

in general, watch sergios style, mostly super fast tricks, dahl has a more laid back stylistic way to his slides.

i like your use of emoticons, shows how you need to re-enforce your sarcasm me do it too!

Rips4Stoke has alot of the technique down in the slides, so his advice is good. But I also think that a coleman slide doesnt have to be fully 180* drawn out. In fact, the only reason I do coleman slides is to slow down so I usually hold it sideways a bit to slow the speeds down. If you do draw the slide out to 180* then you will exit with more speed though, just for reference.

Alright, we shoreline/lfper's always end up straying away from the topic to talk about events and stuff. I am going to start a thread in the NW section called "Shoreline/LFP, WA skate sesh's". talk about events and such there!
