Re: Technical sliding thread
do any of you guys write down a list of your slides?
I was just looking at some old slide pics of mine, and there were about 3 or 4 slides that i had made up and just completely forgotten about

Re: Technical sliding thread
Well, we have a list of slides, but can't do loads of them. Just a list of stuff to work on so you don't miss anything and end up with gaps in the skills. One for standup, one for hands down. Just basics of everything, regualr and switch so you have a solid foundation to build other tricks on.
Switch colemans are suprisingly hard....

yeah for sure, i agree. I can't do a switch coleman pendy to save my life
oddly enough, I can do a switch 1-hand h/s 360 (but not a regular 1-handed 3)

Re: Technical sliding thread
I now finally understand the whole idea of rotating your arms in the opposite direction when speedchecking. makes holding out standups waaaaaayy easier, and has totally changed my way of riding. Before, I thought check slides were like a slow 180 that you somehow pulled back around. after watching some videos, and practicing for an hour or two, can consitently hold out 180 and check slides for a good 10 - 15 feet. (may seem small, but its a big step for me!) I have been doing hands down stuff on my slide deck forever, and have finally unlocked some major opportunities in the world of standup slides.
this was kind of a pointless post, but I'm just super stoked on my new skillz.
you just highlighted my signature for no reason other than it consists of a empty space. good for you!

Nice job on holdin out the slides Rich. Keep more weight on your feet when you are doing the rotation on slides. Also work on footplacement if they're not quite where you need them, but more weight and firmer planting should help keep them from sliding.

Locking myself into my footwells tends to help, though I still have the same problem, it's really bad after some a furious pressure spin... need to work on those

I found it's all about foot position before the slide that helps. If it's sliding to the left side consistently, start the slide with your foot slightly further to the right I'd say. That's how it work for me

it's a great way to start man! try it out. i started tech sliding on 92a NoSkoolz
you can always upgrade your deck and wheels later on if you decide you like it

Thats good to hear it will be a realy cheap way of starting out especialy as no skools are cheap compared to big zigs and o'tangs. Also which size of no skool do you think is best?
edit: also I think if I put 60+mm wheels on my street deck I think I will get wheelbite unless I tighten up my trucks loads. Does it matter if the trucks turn alot?

Re: Technical sliding thread
I don't want to discuss equipment here when we should be talking about technique, but 90a wheels will be too soft for technical sliding.
(i.e not colemans, perellitoes, pendys or any hands down trick, for that they'll work fine, but you'll learn much faster on a truly hard wheel)
I consider 99a too soft!
Slide A's are 54d and are my recommendation.
