    TECH SLIDING R00LZ

Yesterday I practiced techsliding for a couple hours. I got my frontside 360's nailed every time, I can do frontside 360's revert back to 180 fakie out, and I started working on backside 360's. I got a couple but I think it was just because I was hauling ass because I couldn't really get up out of them and my body and board just went. I've been locking into my standups more and more (which scares the balls out of me on hard wheels, I slammed my tailbone really hard yesterday but it buffed out.) I really just need to work on my backsides in general.

    Stoked.

it's always the first weekend of November.

if it's dry and you're in NOLA next Sat(23rd), i'll probably be in town for a friends gig at Balcony Bar and am down to skate that day. I'm a former NOLA resident myself

thanks for the props bro...damn i havnt been on here in awhile sounds like everyone is progressing like crazy, thats dope keep it up guys

speaking on switch slides, thats the one thing ive been working on (although i havnt slid in like 5 months) it is def. weird when your first learning em but once you figure the weighting and unweighting their just as easy as regular...like last time i went a nailed that same layback to 1h TS to sex change combo, only switch...needless to say i was pretty stoked

    Tech sliding rocks me socks!

I've been playing about with trying a 360 coleman where you go into a coleman, but instead of stopping at 180 or pendying back, you just keep rotating, much like a pressure spin. However, the bugger won't seem to go past 180/270 ish. anyone got any tips? I saw them on the original Faltown slide school, but I don't think it's in the new one and I wasn't ready for them back in the day...

The only advice I can give is go faster (?) but that leads me to my next point, can we have a sliding glossary? I don't even know what you guys are talking about half the time. Like, what's the difference between a coleman 360, frontside 360, heelside 360, flatspin 360, and pressure spin 360? They all seem the same to me, no?

I find it helpfull to grab the nose and yank it around. When you get a feel for where your weight needs to be the you can stop grgabging the nose...

I put my knee on the ground and I make my front foot parallel with the rails of the board (as opposed to the normal perpendicular positioning) and with enough speed you'll get it around. You gotta get it quick b/c otherwise you'll be relying on your griptape (I have edger so its not a problem, but if you have normal grip than you're gonna be off the board).

bout all i got is, PRACTICE switch tricks...

for reference, as soon as i lost my switch ollie, i pretty much lost all my switch stand-up slides..

i just lost the overall feel of doing switch tricks.. hard to keep my left foot my "power" foot without practicing it pretty much daily. Might wanna work on switch ollies and get that "feel" in your feet, makes switch slides tons easier for me.

I'm stoked. I learned Standup Toeside Manny's. Now I just need to be able to perform them at a bit of a higher speed.

I never do these purposefully; they just kinda happen by accident every now and then lol.

When they do happen, I'm usually putting much more pressure on the tail than usual and the nose ends up lifting. Then I guess get the pop on the ground and lift your front foot off? It would probably help to angle your back foot out a bit so your heel is closer to the pocket/bolts. Otherwise I imagine you'd be putting a bit of a moment on the board.

Get your back foot at an angle, crossing over the bolt holes that way you can kind of kickturn so to say, with your back foot. You need to be able to control the board and keep it sideways vs. just putting it on the tail were you put a lot of moment on the board.

I really like doing laybacks up on the nose w/ both feet. Gives some nasty flatspots sometimes though.

Had a good 5 or so hour slide session today as my local slide hill had no cars on it. Learned a lot of new stuff including fs tail blunt checks and 180s, big bs checks, got my bs standup 3s really smooth and drawn out, and some fun new weird 360- grab tail/stale fish and do a hs 180 followed by a switch onehanded toeside (still grabbing rail.) Still dont have those quite smooth but with some practice they should look dope.

i forgot how awesome tech sliding is. I want to learn a few more slides including switch nose blunt 180s as well as nose blunt fs checks in the next week or two. Tried a few today and kinda got the feel for them but i jsut need to dedicated a day to them and I think i should be set.
