UK website for organising longboard sessions!

Longboard-Sessions.co.uk - so much fun you'll sh*t yourself

After meeting a couple of other longboard crews in nearby towns, we started organising more and more big sessions, either heading out to them or them coming to visit us. Keeping track of who was running sessions when and where was a bit of a nightmare, so I made this new website to organise sessions and help people find other sessions in their area!

You make an account, say how far you're willing/able to travel to sessions and then you'll get e-mailed when there's a new session happening within the distance you specified. It's all linked to google maps so it's easy to find out where people are going and you can message the people running the sessions via the site.

It's all rather technical, so the site is a, uh, work in prgress, but it's been working well for the Canterbury/Ramsgate/Faversham/London crews that we've been testing on. I know the sessions I've been going to have turned from 3 people to 30, which all helps to fuel the STOKE!

Essentially the whole thing relies on YOU to say when and where you are gonna go skate. If you've got a gnarbar secret hill, maybe just post up where your gonna meet before heading to the hill if you wanna keep it on the down low.

So... yeah... lets see if we can bring together some crews and all go to bloody massive skate fests!!!!

Give me shout if you have any trouble using the site and I'll try and fix whatever is bugging you. ZING!

yo man im in California and im gong over there with my english GF and my buddy, and while we are in the area we want to do some skating. any way we could meet up with a session in mid to late june or mid july?

Mid-late june a bunch of us will be going off to some freerides in northern france, only a couple hours drive after you;ve got the ferry. Otherwise there should be lots going on what with the UKGSA league, the UK outlaw league and random sessions all over the country! Where are you staying? Sign up to the site with a healthy distance setting and I'm sure something will pop up

to CANTERBURY!?

Well damn son, that's where longboard-sessions.co.uk originates from! I'm a Canterbury local, we have a good scene here, lots of hooking up with the Thanet Dogtown crew over in Ramsgate/Margate about half an hours drive away. Got some fun spots around here for whatever you wanna do really. Obviously no giant mountain 3 miles long DH runs, but we've got some good corners, slide hills, cruising runs, skateparks, garages, whatever you want.

Up in London where you start there is a sick scene too, we often go up to hang out with the London longboards crew. If you're lucky there might be a Greenwich Park slide jam on, lovely hill for pretty much anything.

Down in Paris, they close off some of the roads in montmatre on sundays to cars for people who wanna bike... or SKATE. Good slide scene there too.

What's your skate style of choice?

No way! thats pretty damn awesome. My GF was born in Bossingham so we'll be staying there with her family friends for a couple nights and be roaming around canterbury for 2 days.

That's tight that they close off roads in paris. we never get that here except for sanctioned races.

I used to do a lot of just dancing and some basic slides and because i live in an insanely flat town, i've just been doing a lot of garage bombing. My friends and I have found some short DH runs around here though. nothing faster than about 45mph with the average speed being about 35. I've been out of skating for a little while though due to a ton injuries i've come across. what's your skating style consist of?

Eh I'm not even sure if I skate anymore with this bloody snow! We do a lot of tech sliding round this way and sessioning drifty corners in summer. Anything really though. You'll probably like Greenwich park in London if it's still skateable when your down (becomes a bust in high summer due to too many pedestrians). Lots of lovely wide flat patchs to cruise and a fun n friendly slide hill.

Sounds like your DH spots are probably faster than ours, it's pretty flat round this way. There's only one big hill in Canters and it's just a straight bomb. Can only hit it at about 6 in the morning though due to traffic. It has a thing that tells you how fast your going about 2/3 of the way down though which is fun! Max speed only about 34mph so far on that.

I'm sure can can find something you'd like to session though. Oh if you;re into dancing there's a 2 mile mellow downhill cruising run the Thanet guys go to, zero traffic too.
