to anyone who likes speed, lives nearish high wycombe, and fancies a session, weve found a new hill, plan to ride it on sunday morning, will let you know how it goes.
type in coates lane, high wycombe on google maps, or heres a screenshot
the start is at the top of coates lane, and the shutdown is on the right of the picture where the houses begin near to the end of the road. im thinking itl be high 30s, to mid 40's. its got a fun little corner section in the middle. anyone fancy hitting this?
also looking at organising some outlaw races in a multi-storey one day, any interest in that

i rode this hill, (friday, 12pm) and it wasn't actually too busy, think there was a car bout once a minute at its busiest. but there are sometimes huuge gaps between the cars. altogether a very nice hill. the entire hill is a lovely smooth tarmac, lovely corners (tighter than they look in the pic) and with an average grade of 14% its gna be fast.
the issue (yep theres an issue) is the shutdown. just like eastbourne, lovely tarmac, then straight into gnarly bumpy rubbish after the final corner. but as the final corner is pretty tight i don't think ul be hitting it faster than 30.
heres a vid of the top section, was gna film it all the way down, but a phone is a hard thing to film with when you have slide gloves. i started on the corner above the chicane section (the one with the single house on it), bout halfway up the hill, as the top section was really wet, was footbreaking all the way down, but man alive, those corners are fun!
cool mate, we rode this hill last weekend, and it is so so good, its a class hill. unfortunately we got shut down by the cops after about 45 minutes, so its probly best to leave skating it untill we can do dawn patrols again in the summer. its a hell of a hill though, you hit turn one at 40 after a 14% drop. its pretty cool! il let you know when we are hitting it again.

True, without lighting I'd guess it's best to ride stupidly early or not at all.
40mph, really? sounds good to me, I'd be up for a visit in the warmer months.
are you heading to any of the euro events in the summer?
hopefully i am, i dno if il actually make it, it'l depend on money. yeh, we have a couple of 40mph hills out here, and one which could very easily be 60, although we've only hit 35 on it, running the bottom section. the chilterns are good hills for skating!

sounds cool man,
there's a couple of 35 ish spots here in harrow & 1 slightly technical road.
you should come down to london in the spring/summer, there's some sweet spots in crystal palace/wimbledon/harrow/kingston
the freerides should be good fun
using a navman gps, it seems to be pretty accurate, have tested it alongside a bike speedo, and another handheld gps and got nearly identical results. i know the fastest iv been is 41, and some of the newer hills iv found are waaay faster than 41, hitting consistant 30's with alot of footbraking! coates lane is a lovely road, so long as you can footbrake at speed you'l be fine, which im assuming you can. you gna be hitting the cadwell freeride in feb? thats always a good laugh.

cadwell seems like a laugh but the date couldn't possibly be worse due to the weather really, i'd definitely be up for something come spring/summer/autumn though.
were you @ eastbourne too?
gps is the way forward, i've been using a garmin forerunner to check speed & it's worked well so far.
that route seems pretty sweet though, definitely interested in hitting it up.
