So I've been trying to push the local scene in my area and to help it along somewhat I've created a website where we post up sessions, road trips, photos blah blah as a kind of central online meeting place for the scene.
It's been real good so far, been running 3 months as a static site which I update when people send me session details. Got quite a few people finding our crew through the website and joining us for a skate. Gone from 3 people to 20+ in the time the sites been running.
Canterballs Longboarding - Canterbury longboard sessions
Currently the site is very basic. We're looking to improve by adding a content management system so anyone can post sessions and comment about them afterwards by logging in. Also the ability to upload videos, pics etc and allow people to manage their own events. Should be automating a mailing list too and adding an RSS feed so it'll be easy to know when the sites been updated.
Just wondering what you guys think? I know Lush is great for hooking up with other skaters, I just thought it would be interesting to have a dedicated system. I'd be stoked if you guys could take a look around and let me know what you think, any extra features etc that could be added for v0.2.
Essentially looking to roll this out so users can select a location and add sessions etc so others will be able to use the site. Much like sk8m8.com, but for longboarders.
I know its a bit dodgy at the mo as its still in the very early stages we'll have it on a nicer server with less adverts soon!
