    Default Valterra King Kobra

My buddies mom found this board in the basement, its in great shape.

Its only missing the rail guards, and nose bone

    Hardware is shot

    Bushings are old

    Bearing are rusty

    Wheels looks fun and slidy

I havnt seen delam really, just a beat up nose

    MY QUESTION IS:

    -Wall piece (Worth decent coin)

-Fix up and shred (really only needs hardware and bushings and bearings)

Here is a picture of the top of the deck, im waiting for my friend to send me the picture he took last night of the bottom of the deck.

So what do you think? i realize without seeing the bottom you cant really tell its value, but my guess is the deck is worth under 50 bucks and is best used to shred!

Please tell me what you think (like i stated above ill post the bottom of the deck soon)
Always trying to spread the stoke, so if there is anyway i can help, just let me know. I live in rochester NY 14526/buffalo 14261

Ahhhhh.. Valterra.. Memories right there. Also the brand that Michael J fox had in back to the future. Always thought of that board quality wise as a step up from Variflex but a step down from any givien vision board of the era. If it were in great shape I'd hang it. That one looks like a rider though.

    Greg,
I don't know about a step up from Variflex...because some Variflex boards I saw in the past had brand name wheels and parts, and unlike Nash and Valterra, they had various pro's in the past riding for them, like Allen Losi and this other guy named Lance Mountain . Valterra and Nash just always used their own "parts" like the XR-2 trucks and crap like that...and I cannot recall that at any point Nash or Valterra ever had a team or any decent riders on the team...

I guess it depends in what time frame you are talking about, late 70's, early 80's was when Variflex had a decent spike in gear with rider sponsorship. In my era that spurred my comments, 85-89 Variflex boards where pretty much considered Kmart boards and it seemed at the time Valterra's held up a little bit better. I dunno. I was just a kid so my actual analytical thinking was non existent. lol

The mid-80s is my point of reference. I had a Nash, so I guess I am a bit partial to them, and one of my friends had a Variflex that he got, probably from Kmart, but it came stock with Tracker trucks, and since I had seen Tracker ads in magazines, I just assumed Variflex was better. Although for the record, Nash did have ads selling the Executioner and XR-2 trucks in Transworld back when they used to be published every other month...I'm just over analyzing my childhood skateboards....

Yeah, shred it. Graphics are blah so not sure about being a wallhanger. Since you were speaking of Variflex decks, in my opinion this was the last quality deck from '85, before they went all toy store image. I remember it being one of my first boards back then and loved the shape and graphics. Was glad to find another one not long ago...

    THE SLEEPER HAS AWOKEN!

Good choice. The board appreciates being allowed to live the life it deserves.

    • A lot of pressure is put onto the heel when you sweat large drops on a skateboard.
    • The air bag helps to make your feet last longer before they get crippled from the pain.
