Re: 80's reissue setup!
Snag those 169's. That deck is much narrower at the trucks and the 169's will be just fine especially if you run something like 60mm NoSkoolz (kind of a dubcon shape.)
-
Re: 80's reissue setup!
yeah, 169s would be perfect. I say do INDEED slap some NoSkoolz on it as well. Ive got some 60mm 92a noskoolz i got originally for ditches, and theyre killer on the streets, too.
plus.. 92 duro thane is pretty much tits for most wheels, IMO

Re: 80's reissue setup!
Thanks for replying! Helped alot.
Crass, are the 92a's fast even on regular asphalt?
-
Re: 80's reissue setup!
I must respectfully disagree with CRASS on the duro. I think 78a is the sweet spot for any classic ABEC 'thane wheel. It's faster for bombing on typical asphalt than the 92a's.

I was thinking about going with the 88a 65mm noschoolerz. Just because it's a big wheel, will roll over cracks and stuff, it's pretty hard for powerslides and If I happen to cruise by a concrete park, but still not too rough to cruise on pavement with. What do you think, correct or no?

Re: 80's reissue setup!
Too soft for skate parks, too hard for street. Compromised performance for both uses. You really need 2 sets of wheels to get the best results.

True, good thing I have my pool stick.

Re: 80's reissue setup!
yeah, ill agree that 78 is the primo abec thane, but theyve worn pretty well for me. rode ALOT of rough ditches with em, and skated all over town, too. not super fast in the park, but doable.
certainly better than the dubcons i got so many years back.
Get some Bullets if you can. now thats a 92 duro wheel id FUCK.

Re: 80's reissue setup!
i have the 85a rat bones. super smooth and tons of grip. i tried 97a gbones thinking they would be a lot faster but they werent, actually slower on bad pavement, about the same in the park.

Re: 80's reissue setup!
So how's it ride? I've been thinking about snagging a pool/park setup for the spring, not sure if I wanna go with an 80's reissue like the Santa Cruz boards (probably the Jeff Kendall Jaegermeister or the Keith Meek Slasher 9x32) or something more popsicle-y like an EW Jailbird or Skull Skates pool deck... mostly I'm curious about wheel choice though, are those Bones 56mm good for both park and cruising? How do they slide?

Haven't ridden it yet, it's snowing like a mother****er. Not gonna go to go to an indoor park either, i suck so bad it's not even worth it. Maby i'll take it to the mall and cruise around there, lol :P
Don't really know which shape is more functional, lotta people say popsicles though ^^
My wheels are waaay to soft for park but they're allright for cruising around. A lil too small though, i want some 81a 60mm noshoolz. The slide is pretty much buttery, quiet and hooks up nicely. They where free so i can't really complain

Re: 80's reissue setup!
Nice ride!
@atro - EW Jailbird "popsicle-y " ???
I guess you don't mean short and skinny. The La Paloma Rapido is kind of a popsicle on steroids. Cool little deck that'll take more abuse than a wood sicle.

You should not make me snort and giggle in the office.

No, I meant more like a twin-tip shape with a nose kick... sorta like a shortboard but longer and wider, if that makes sense. I used to ride an 8" popsicle way back in the day, I suppose I could get used to one again, I just figure since 99% of my skating these days is on longboards I'd be a lot more comfortable on something wider and with a longer wheelbase.

And I was wondering what truck width and wheels to get. The board is 10,25" at It's widest point so I was thinking bout getting Indy 215's. But then my friend told me he'd sell me his Indy 169's for real cheap. So, 215's vs 169's, what's the diffrence? Will the board act super tippy and wobbly with the 169'ers or will they work?
Also I was thinking Abec 11 Noschoolz, 81a or 88a, for wheels. Or maby 85a rat bones. If you know any good sorta 80's shaped wheel that's not too rough to cruise on I'd apreciate a link.
Thanks in advance guys
