    Default Newporter vintage deck?

I was messing around in my granparent's garage and found this really old looking orange skate deck. It really resembles the look and feel of my friend's vintage Hobie Comp board from the 1970s. The label on the board I found was like Newporter or Nieuporter or something like that. I think it was fiberglass and I think I remember it having red wheels. I need to figure out a way to get the board, fix it up, and use it as a sweet mini (it's definitely sub-30 inches but probably around the 26"-28" range) with some old school Kryptos and old school Tracker trucks. I'd assume that it has an old school truck drilling pattern as well but I can't remember much more about it. I think it was my uncle's longboard when he was a kid so that would date it back to between early 1970s-1975 or maybe '76.

Anyone heard of boards with a name like that or know anything about them? Would it be worth it to spend a little cashola to get it running or is it garbage? I wish I could tell you more but this was over the summer I found it, probably back in June.

Sounds like trash. Send it to me and I'll put it in the dumpster for you.

J/K. How about some pics? Sounds interesting.

yeah, I had one back in probably 1976-77 or so... bought it (well, my parents did) at a toy store... nothing too special .. if i remember correctly, the one I had was more or less a Bahne knockoff.. i do remember that it did not take much impact to get some splinters going in that fiberglass, and the damn thing came without grip tape....
    Longboard is not a verb.

I rode my share of 60's/70's boards and compared to today's boards - they are junk. What we have today is much higher quality, much higher performance and made to last. If you want to hang a vintage board on the wall (I made a coat rack out of my first skateboard) that would be great, but if you want to use it, I think you would be better off with something more modern.

damn. i thought it would be fun to fix it up but if it's really that cheap then it's probably not worth it. i remember that i really hate my friend's vintage hobie deck but i figured that was because it hadn't been service since the day it was bought... but it must have just been that it straight up sucked.
if i ever get pictures or i get to have the board i'll update...

You guys made me nostalgic for a Caballero board I scored from Salvation Army and rebuilt with the help of my friend Davey (High Tech Surf Sports). I made the mistake of lending it to a kid in Paia who turned out to be a real asshole, destroyed it and never even said, "Sorry!"

I wonder if you know that the beautiful blues solo playing on "Loan Me a Dime" from Boz Scaggs first album was actually Duane Allman making a rare appearance slideless on his Les Paul. He's on the inside album cover stark naked.
