    Reminder: Banked Slalom & Flatland Slalom @ Vintage Day is this Saturday 11/22/03.


    FLATLAND SLALOM (10am- 4PM):
    Free to enter, Jam Session, Unlimited Practice, Declare your three timed runs before each attempt to post up your times, many different age divisions, loaner slalom boards available, bring your medium to hard wheels to win this event.

    BANKED SLALOM- (6pm-10pm):
    $5.00 donation to Surfrider Foundation, Practice from 4pm-6pm, Rally to match an easy set pace time for a BOZI Complet, Race starts right after the Rally, use a park board with hard wheel (95 duro or harder), Cabbage is the 3 time winner of this Banked Slalom Race.


    VINTAGE DISPLAYS- (10am-10pm):
    Free to display vintage skateboard equipment or even new boards, first come first serve on selecting primo spots along the fence, bring zip ties to attached boards to the chain link fence, best to bring your own chairs, good idea to bring a table, Surfrider volunteers will keep an eye on your collections for you, anybody displaying or helping a displayer gets to skate all day for FREE.

    DISCOUNTED SKATE SESSIONS:
    Discounted Vans Skateboard Sessions ($5.00 per session) for longboarders and old schoolers or new schoolers that know how to do old school skate maneuvers.

    SKATEBOARD HISTORY TIMELINE FOR DC AREA (10am-10pm):
    A long sheet of 2 foot by 50 foot sheet of paper w/ decades marked from the 1950's to 2003 will be taped up on the wall, skateboarders and the public alike will be invited to write down skateboard milestones for the DC Area (DC, VA, MD, DE, PA, NJ, NY, WV, etc.),
    Example milestones (not sure on these dates),
    Circa 1974 "The Urethane Skateboard Wheel is invented in Purcellville, VA"
    or
    Circa 1977 "Chris Chaput signs with Belair Skateboard Company located in Belair, Maryland, hence the popular 'Chapstick' Skateboard and 'Lip Bomb' wheels"
    or
    Circa 1980 "Cherry Hill Skatepark Opens"
    or
    Circa 1982 'Cherry Hill Skatepark Closes"
    or
    Circa 1991 "Ramptech incorporated in Virginia by Mike Mapp aka Micro and quickly becomes the premier professional half-pipe builder in the country"

    John Dillon just called and said that there are radio commercials for the Vintage & Longboard Day that are being played on WHFS 99.1 FM. This is a surprise bonus for Surfrider Foundation because Vans is paying for the advertisements.

    Note, all the Sponsors such as Tracker, Gravity, Comet, etc. have hooked us up with a bunch of swag/prizes.

    Look for raffles at the event (1 ticket for $1.00 or 10 tickets for $5.00) along with prizes for the races.
