    Default Vintage Surfboards

Heres my board I bought it off this old guy at a garage sale for a 100 bucks when i was in elementary school. I dont remember it too well but I do remember him saying that he had it for a long time and then he gave it to his daughter, so i figure the board is pretty old.

And one night I was moseying around on the internet and my google searching led me too vintage surfboards.

I found these and said, huh those kinda look like mine.

then i found this red one and said now that looks a lot like mine! then next to it i was like dear god that is my board!

the reason i got so stoke was because the red and white one went for 12k in the Hawaiian Vintage Surf auction of 05! So I know my board is very messed up and I couldn't get that much for it but if it is an original i assume i can get a nice roll of bills.

So my question is do you guys know if it is original, what its year, name and how much i might be able to get for it?

Go to www.vintagebolt.com. There is a lot of information there for you to investigate your board in much more detail. Good luck.

    thanks scabs,

well i've been searching and i cant find my exact board
its a 7'1 could have been a 7'2 originally as i had to patch the nose

currently im leaning towards it being a remake as the bolt is much different then what i have been seeing

There appears to be a log right above the bolt on your board. If you could post a close up picture of that, it'd help identify it. There were quite a few guys shaping those back in the 70s and some are going to be more valuable than others. It could be a locally done "copy" with the graphic put on because it was all the rage or it could be a totally legit board. Either way, it's a pretty cool board to own man. Good job.

oh yeah i forgot about that heh heh

this is my main evidence to why i think its a remake because bolts where shaped in Hawaii not california as i just found out.
    and thanks

Oh man when I first saw that lightning bolt the first thing that came to mind was a Gerry Lopez board...If you had one of his, you would make bank. That board is really sick though.

    thanks
thats what i thought too when i first found out it was vintage
i was like,"dude what if Gerry Lopez shaped it! I could sell it buy a car and a boat and maybe a new board too!"
but its not, still cool though
and plus i can freak the old surfers out when they see it from a distance

does anybody have any information about california foam boards? i cant find anything

You could try posting on the surfermag.com forum in the board design topic or someplace like that. There are some guys on there that have been in the surfboard business for decades and they might recognize it.
