    Default old vintage skateboards

I was working on my board (homemade 48" dropped-through with 180s 85 kryptos bones swiss) when my neighbor came up and said hey I used to be into skateboarding! Yeah that was the 1960s we used to yada yada yada... anyways I finally got around to checking out his board. Its a little tiny deal he built when he was my age (15) with really narrow trucks and some kind of wheels that felt as if they were made out of rock. He said they were for sliding. Crazy stuff. Anyways I got it into my head that I want to build myself one that is as close to what they had back then. My question is does anybody still mass produce vintage parts like that? I looked on ebay for one, but i dont want to build a board out of stuff that is a collectors item or something i would feel guilty riding on.

heres the deal... find a piece of wood youd like riding on... find an OLD pair of rollerskates, like the kind with 2 wheels in the front on a litttle truck and 2 wheels in the back... and nail those to your plank... youve got yoursself a sweet skateboard.. oh and by the way the wheels are made out of clay(very dangerous)

no, he meant old roller skates, not blades. old skates had clay wheels.

but wouldnt they not grip and just slide around without much wear? to me that would be worth the vibration and the noise to cruise down a street sideways...

    They will just chunk apart.

You should only bomb gravel roads with clay wheels.

also if and when you hit a tiny pebble the board instantly stops and usually throws you, and pain in the glaving
