hey guys, i'm lookin to outfit my vintage mini deck with some new trucks/wheels so that it's ridable again! the deck is 26" x 7" at the widest, 6" over the middle of the bolts on each end. there's approx. 3/4" of rocker. the deck also has some nice little wheelwells, perhaps 1/4" deep front and back.
i would love to get some bennetts to keep the original look of the board alive, but i am also considering some randal 125s in the matte black. questions here are what size bennett would work best (4.3 i'm assuming...), and if those randals would work at all. the randals would be a nice cost-effective choice
wheels wise, i was thinkin some of these beautiful blue bennett alligators in the 62mm size! i think that should be about right size wise
opinions/advice especially appreciated if you have a similarly sized mini, or if you build them (arcane...), and if you have experience with the equipment, but everyone's opinions are welcome! thanks in advance
Man i was goin too ask the same question i have a 7x23 deck and i was thinkin about the bennett's and some 3dm wheels but i dont know if the trucks are too wide someone with old school knowledge speak up the smallest board i had was a schmitt stick ripsaw

BENNETT 4.3s are about 111mm (hanger width). you'll need to go at least that narrow for (a)to fit and (b)keep that vintage look. i'd say stick with those, or some Trackers (midtracks or fulltracks).

just so it's out there, it's not the end of the world if the board doesn't end up looking vintage right now. someday for sure i will get some bennetts but right now i'm just fishing for some info. if those randals would simply not work, then i'll get bennetts now. just timing is all
my GUESS is that the 125s (about a 5inch hanger, or the same as most "shortboard" trucks) would be too wide -- but really, it's all preference, right? until you set it up, who knows how it will ride or whatever. further, if you LIKE the RII 125s, why not try them? if the goal is SOMEDAY to "vintage-ize" the deck, you could always use the randals for a different board then, right?
if it's price, the trackers are cheap AND more "era accurate." and for that matter, lots of standard 5" trucks will work, too. but if you just like the looks of the randalls and want to try 'em, well, more power to you! go for it, see how they ride, let us know!

right! and yes i do like the RII 125s, much better than the trackers. plus, i have ridden randals before and know the "feel" of them. whatever i get, you can be sure the fish will know how things are!
i'm just hoping for some ppl with experience to share how they feel. i like hearing what others thoughts are before i use my hard-earned money for a purchase! HOWEVER, don't get me wrong--if i didn't have the 'fish, i would have no qualms about just purchasing whatever i liked. it just might not work as well as a set-up
another affordable and great little truck that will fit both the look and the size of the board are the GFH mini trucks. i've got them on two of my minis and absolutely love them. pair those with some cambrias(which are amazing) or similar wheel and you have an awesome little board.

about how wide are those? 3 inches at the hanger if i remember correctly...so then with some fat wheels like the cambrias or some alligators, how wide will it be to the outside of the wheels? proportion, i guess, is key...

any wheel input from anyone?
the trucks with the cambrias are just over 6" wide.
The GFH 3" trucks are an excellent option. They are very turny and come stock with the Khiro bushings. And you can't beat the price. They are extremely well made and have the GFH warranty and stamp of approval to back it up.

Re: setup for vintage mini deck
The way I built mine is with a 1970's blank board for the template. I really liked the shape of the deck. The board has been done a few times in the last few years. The board is 27" x 6 3/4" the parts I used are Tracker mid Darts. You can use mid classic Trackers to but the cost go's up. Wheels are going to be around 60mm too 66mm. I used OJ 3's pure juice wheels 7's bearings, good risers and hardware. You also need course grip or 3m skid tape 4" wide black is the one you want.
