Re: Vintage Old School page 50's and up
Here are my old LoganEarthSkis and they are still very functional. Gumby aka Skatebuilt rider Mark Gosser and I rode them at the 2007 Farm Race. Torger Johnson, Road Rider 4's, Bennett Pros. Slalom Model, Bruce Logan 27 inch, Tracker Trucks, Krytonics, Rad Pads. Your Amigo Eddy Texas Outlaws.
I know you're out there. I can feel you now. I know that you're afraid. You're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin. I'm going to show these people what you don't want them to see. I'm going to show them a world.. without you. A world without rules or controls, without borders or boundaries. A world where anything is possible.

It was the cored version of the uncored next gen startrack with a straight line concave and a thinner lip than the ones I have.
Yes, the slalom wheels do have a washer.
Ogre, more info please: Define lathed - was the back cut to create a lip, or was it the rolling surface? And you actually got some wheels from BP himself? Man one of these days I'm going to meet you and then I'll be singing (with apologies to the Dead):
"I shook the hand that shook the hand of B B Piercy and Charlie Chan!"
Where is Mr Peabody and the wayback machine?
Hi TwinTown Skater !
You are right !
There were (at least) 2 models between your superb OG Startrac and the 70 USA. First came in late 1977 the rounded edges of the first "Kryptonics", known among collectors as "2nd gen": metal ring, 60, 65 and 70mm.
Then the core revolution brought the famous C-60/65/70 in 1978... I'll post some old ads later.
Next generation was probably your 70 USA.
Cheers !

Re: Vintage Old School page 50's and up
Actually, I have a set of the orange C-62's and a mixed set of the C-68's in orange and yellow. I'll get a picture up one of these days. What duro does your ad say for the orange" 78 Red, 86 yellow
8? orange? looks like a six but that doesnt make any sense. 80??
Looking at your '79 ad, I would guess that definitively dates the 70 USA to earlier. With the flat backs, they would have been the gen prior the bowl bombers with radiused inside edges.
What are those greenish blue wheels on the wall?
*Edit* I've also got the original packaging for a cored wheel just prior to my 70 USA. I'll include that in my pics as well.

Reason: OOPS, Cross posted at the same time!
Skate 'em if you got 'em,

Re: Vintage Old School page 50's and up
@Twintown: blue ones are harder C62 - 82A.
All my other C62 are pink.
Disagree with you on the 70 USA, though: 1980 maybe... but not before. They are the evolution of the C70, and came before the modern Classic K 70. Definitely '80's.
edit: I'll post a pic of the 70mm 2nd gen from 1977, and the C60 and C65 (sorry, no C70).

Re: Vintage Old School page 50's and up
Any of you guys remember "baby blue" Kryptonics? Were they Star Tracks? I remember them as being super soft fun wheels, but haven't seen any around since around '76.

Nug - Hey man hope you are well. I see the blue Krypto's from 1978
on Ebay occasionally (original durometer 86A-88A I believe). They use go for around $50 - $80. The CX 63's
can go for MUCH more.

Yeah, thanks man. Things are looking up. The Blue 86s are harder than the wheels I'm thinking of. Anyone know what the durometer of the blue star trac(1st gen) was? Pics? This may all just be euphoric recall.

Baby blues: probably 1st gen of Startracs ... extreeeeeeemely collectable !
Sk8 zoo is THE ultimate reference concerning this period.
And yes, CX 64, 63 and 66 and also very collectable too.(200$/set if NOS)

Thanks.. I love my Turners, the cutaway is 2 toned.. Red on bottom. Peggy found it under the bed after Bobby's passing.. It is a cherished tribute to his talents.
I wish I could find the Translucent green Lathed Slaloms.. so fun to ride. I'll dig in other boxes
