Reputable shops in Vancouver area?
New to longboarding and I want to get into this sport. Looks super chill and fun, specially for a summer night when I'm bored. Plus I need a form of transportation instead of biking and walking to get me my slurpies. Can't lock up my bike at 7-11 and don't feel like walking all the way. Anyways, I'm just looking for a good reputable shop that could help me get set up and all.
Thanks, Brendan

yeah SwitchBack is solid. They are located on the Island but have free shipping within BC.
Pipeline Surf is also a reputable shop out of Edmonton but have free shipping within Canada.

Locally, there's Landyachtz, and skate shops like Skull Skates, Underworld, Boardroom, Boulevard (new) though with limited options.
You can also get used boards from Coast Longboarding message board and Craigslist.

thanks, had no idea there was a landyachtz locally. I'll google all of em and probably go test a few. In general are the employees of the shop pretty helpful? Like they won't be dicks and make me get something that isn't right for me?

Pacific Boarder has a pretty decent inventory in the summer, and the Landyachtz brand is based in East Van. Google them up. I'm just getting into longboarding myself, this is all I've got for Vancouver...

Re: Reputable shops in Vancouver area?
unless your buying a rayne or landyachtz deck Canadian prices are really inflated. I order most of my stuff from the states. I particularly like mile high skates Mile High Skates
and
Longboard Skater - Longboard Skateboards
I have everything shipped down to point roberts. this way I don't have to wait for things to pass through customs and I get to take advantage of "free shipping in the continental united states". There is a great service down there called TSB shipping. Tsb Shipping Plus
They charge about $3 for each package you have shipped there. I have saved myself a lot of money doing this.

Re: Reputable shops in Vancouver area?
Ya man, if you're in Vancouver, just go to either Landyachtz or Rayne. Many will argue that these are two of the best companies, and they're always nice and willing to help. Rayne doesn't really carry any components for the most part, so those are a lot easier to get from Landyachtz.
Underworld has definitely upped their presence with longboard selection since Katie started there. Just be weary of prices, some of them have been really out of the park due to some terrible decisions with ordering, but it's getting better.

Yo, sounds like you are some vancouver kids. I go to Van Tech if you ever heard of it, it'd be a trip if you went there too, who knows.
