    Default Salt Spring Island

I just got back from boarding on one of the Gulf Islands, Salt Spring Island. I spent one weekend there working, boarded everyday.
It's pretty damn amazing. Roads are mostly in great condition, very few cars, great hills for all levels. Only downside is about 345469 blind corners. It would've been great to have a spotter.
Anyone else skated there? If so, what's your favorite spot? I'm really surprised that such a prime spot isn't infested by every longboarder on the coast.
We should all chip in and buy it just for ourselves. A whole longboarding island.

I <3 Salt Spring. Rad people, gorgeous landscape, awesome roads and a sick skate park. What more could you want?

I have been meaning to get down there so check it out. Quadra island is fun too. I hear Powell is great as well. My town (Campbell River) is a pretty fun wonderland of hills too.

Grab a few buddies and check it out!
I'd check the forecast before committing though, because low visibility riding there is pretty sketch with the blind corners and such.
    Have fun.

Hey y'all, I'm a Saltspring Islander, I grew up here. I'm glad that you guys are talking about it in such a good way because I God Damn love it here. And yeah I was actually wondering why more people don't come here to longboard, it's rad.

I'll tell you a few of my favourite spots..

There is a nicely paved hill that is about 3km that leads into our small town, Ganges, from the direction of Fulford. If you come here there is no way you can miss it. There is many cars on there in the day so me and my buddies go there and bomb at night (streetlights are all around so it's safe) and it's the best. Imagine 3km of bad-ass downhill leading into a nice safe run out well lit with no cars.

I might not be explaining this too well because I'm baked right now, but another great spot is on a road called Juniper where a longboarding race was actually held in the summer (I was stuck in Vancouver, soooo unimaginably choked!) I'm not sure exactly how long it is but you gotta be pretty good to bomb the whole thing because it ends in a hairpin turn.

I can only name a fraction of the amazing hills right now, all I can say is come on over and shred the gnar

Are you coming to the Saltspring Slasher on the 25th? I'll be working the Switchback tent that day peddling gear to the kids.
