Yeah werd up, I'm like pretty much the biggest longboarder around here, everyone else smokes pot n' shortboards, haha cause its seriously its a smaaall town, except maybe this very older fellow who pumps around on a verrry nice homemade cambered, concave board with 83 flys and 180 seismics, I guess he kind of owns the place. And hell yeah nothing like a night lakeshore cruise with some odd skitching here and there
But on the topic of Okanagan does anyone know any GOOD hills I can't find any loong bomb runs, someone mentioned Green Mt. Road up to Apex ski resort but I need a car to go there. But anything else around in Naramata, Summerland, Peachland/Westbank or Kelowna possibly?
Any Okanagan riders into slalom? I'm originally from Vernon, and go back to visit family quite alot. Looking forward to the Vernon race in June. I know Gary from Penticton, we'd love to put a session together next time I'm in the Valley!

hi ghoti
i'm definitely racing dh in both of your lairs (vernon and calgary) this year. let me know if you guys are doing an outlaw slalom during either of those events and i'll somehow cram my slalom stuff in with all my dh stuff. i just signed up for the dh race in vernon but unfortunately the slalom race was canceled. i was hoping for a more pleasant slalom experience than last year. i think i raced with a mild concussion after slamming my head on the slalom ramp during practice. i didn't notice at the time but after inspecting my slalom helmet after i got back to the bed and breakfast that night i discovered that the protective foam at the back of my helmet had small hairline cracks at the exact point where i smacked my head. luckily my intermittent double vision cleared later that evening and i was back to normal for the dh race the next day.
am slowly getting back on the skateboards as we've had great snow here in b.c this past season. spent more time on a snowboard this year than on a skateboard. the attached pic was from april 20th even though the snow conditions seem to indicate january--you can identify me from all the duct tape on my gloves. duct tape is ubiquitous at a skateboard race but i was getting snobby condescending stares from the whistler crowd!
btw i only joined facebook to get my dog's pictures from melissy ransom (kibbling's girlfriend) and haven't logged in since so if you leave a message for me there--I WON'T SEE IT! i don't intend to log onto facebook again due to too many psychotic ex-girlfriends stalking on that site lol.
Oh buddy, you have no idea! The scene in the Okanagan is getting bigger every year, and it's awesome.
If you're ever in Kelowna, we have a great crew of guys and gals that ride all the time, and we always welcome new skaters. We also tag along on the local cruiser bikes monday night ride (booze cruise), and it's a blast. Wednesdays are usually casual skate nights, and thursdays we do DH and sliding etc. Any other night of the week is fair game and we're usually out anyways, but that's just the things we actually have planned out.
*edit* just realized the original post was made three years ago, but oh well, still applies
