Default SLAC Benefit Freeride Norquay

Come out an support SLAC. Sorry if this is late notice for some of you but please make it out if you can. This isn't a race but we can always do head to head heats if you guys like.

Location: Mt. Norquay. The run can be found on the Local 124 map (although it is miss spelt as Norqway I believe).

Date and time: July 5th starting at sunrise. Goes until cars start getting heavy.

Information: Myself and whoever else wants to will be camping out there on Friday night. I'm trying to avoid trouble with the RCMP (as we're already longboarding down a provincial park road) so I think we should stay in a campground overnight. The closest one I could find is called Tunnel Mountain Campground and is 2.4 km from Banff. See the link below for a map. I will have a tent and extra tents would be a good idea along with any stuff you need for camping. We will need brooms as well. Let me know as soon as possible who would like to camp so I can make reservations/check availability. Meet at the Canada Olympic Park parking lot at 6:30 PM on Friday the 4th and we will go from there out to Banff. I'm assuming people will need rides so if people could offer them, that would be great. People who need them, chip in for gas so it will be cheaper for everyone. I can take 3-6 extra people depending on how much stuff people are taking. People from out of Calgary, you can meet us that the Tunnel Mountain Campground around 8:30 or so. If people don't want to come out and camp, meet us out there ready to skate for sunrise or soon after. If we have a truck, we could put all of the stuff in there and I could carry more people in my van. I live in Canyon Meadows so if you're around there, I could give you a ride up to COP as well. We will also need people to shuttle as one vehicle won't be enough I think. If you're willing to use your vehicle as a shuttle vehicle, let me know as well. People who are shuttling will have the gas that they used for shuttling covered by the entrance fees. As for the shuttling system, I'm thinking we should have a couple vehicles and just switch off driving back down. There will be time for lots of runs so don't worry, it would be nice to get as many people as we can doing that so we can maximize everyone's riding time. Also, if people have camera (still or video) equipment, BRING IT! It would be awesome to get some sweet footage of this. I'm sure I've forgotten things and if I have and remember later, I'll post them. Also, if you have any questions, either post on here or give me a call at 403-826-0228. I hope we have a great turn out. I'm sure it will be an awesome event.

Google Maps

Cost: 10 bucks to enter. Payable by cash only. This will go towards shuttling gas and the extra funds will go to SLAC. Extra donations to SLAC are also appreciated although not required.

HELMETS ARE REQUIRED! Leathers are not required although they are advised. You will not be skating if you do not have a helmet. Period.

ALso for those camping... the campground is $27.40/night split between however many people. Bring your own food or money for food if you want to buy it. I'll be bringing a portable BBQ so if you want to cook some stuff on the grill... go right ahead.
