GP Brasil de Skate Slalom e Speed

There they go again - on Formula One's hollowed ground... Legendary Brazilian raceway Interlagos hosts some of the world's best slalom riders and the top Brazilian downhill racers for the second issue of the "GP Brasil de Skate Slalom e Speed" to be taken place next Friday (19th) and Saturday (20th). Skaters will have the chance to ride on the same smooth, recently repaved terrain which made Lewis Hamilton the youngest F-1 world champion ever, along with other activities all over the raceway. World Champion Jason Mitchell and Jake Phelps (Thrasher editor) are already in Brazil to feel the atmosphere - and to ride some perfect cement parks, for sure. Last year, Bob "Gnarl" Burnquist himself made a surprise appearance, got amped and even took a couple of runs; who knows who'll be the surprise skateboarding celebrity this year?!

Once again, this is another event produced by Skate Performance with total support from Prefeitura da Cidade de São Paulo (the city's Town Hall) and Liga dos Esportes (sports league), which included a whooping rental rate of the racetrack around US$ 40,000 per day... That itself shows the official commitment to skateboarding which made the city of São Paulo world famous on the skateboarding scene; lest not forget that the city has already hosted the Latin American X-Games and the Brazilian issue of the Megaramp competition just a few weeks ago.

The "GP Brasil de Skate Slalom e Speed" is sponsored by Ford with total support from Wave Boys skate shop, Thrasher, Gatorade, TRIBO and a whole bunch of local an international brands. We'll keep you updated as soon as the results are released.
