Attack of Danger Bay 8 is less than 2 weeks away. What started as an event with 12 riders and 40 spectators has exploded into the worlds largest longboarding festival. Spanning 6 days, with a cross-country push race, one of the biggest slide comps in the world, a Longboaridng parade, the longboard hockey championship game, head-to-head racing in Jakes Rash for Strikers cash, 3 nights of kick ass punk rock, the biggest race in the world, and now all being followed up with another world class race on Jake’s Rash.
Bricin Lyons, aka Striker, has been working his ass off to ensure everyone gets their mind thoroughly blown. Year after year he has devoted months to the planning and organization of this world class event, making sure it’s always better than last year. The planning process has Strike traveling to the sunshine coast every week, organizing volunteers, arranging the Campground, and among other things, talking with every neighbor on the DB race course. It’s a huge job to run an event of this caliber.
In this episode of the Eh Team!, Guff joins Bricin for a weekend on the sunshine coast. Then they take off and head for the first race of the season, the Shawnigan Shredder. This race was run as an out law for the first couple years, then in 08’ was sanctioned and run fully legit. It’s a super fast course that starts out by bombing into a pair of sweepers that spit you up over a roll and into an incredibly high speed 90° right corner (that was extremely lacking in hay bails), then finishes off with a drafting section down into the bottom.
