Go Skateboarding Day + Father’s Day = Fun in the Sun!

What wasn’t perfect on Fathers Day last weekend?  Okay.... maybe you're a dad and had to "fake happy" at the 14th necktie you received or maybe you forgot to send your old man a Hallmark greeting, but if you were in Huntington Beach you would have scored big with Go Skateboarding Day where dads, kids, moms and even a dog came out to celebrate the day complete with perfect SoCal weather.

Chaput's skateboarding Meetup group started the morning in the parking lot near the HB Pier.  Chris had to charm the parking lot attendant into letting the big green Abec 11 stepvan keep its door rolled open. Inside the van was the usual quiver of assorted boards that garnered the attention of skaters and passers-by alike.  After getting everyone set up with a board, the group headed south on the bike path toward the Edison Community Center.  The first skaters to make it to the center were those on electric boards.... the last to make it was a little 6yr old who pushed the whole three miles.  Once there, Abec 11 and Skatera sponsored a fiesta of food from El Pollo Norteno.  The food was recommended by the Carrascos and successfully coordinated by the one and only, Sarah.  The food was killer and really hit the spot.
While at the center, the Meetup group seamlessly filtered into the scheduled Sk8Kings Freestyle Jam.

With food and fun in abundance, people were skating with abandon.  Hamboards (and Hamborgs!) were plenty and Altered was spreading electric stoke.  A couple young groms were really getting the hang of some new boards while Abec 11's Michele got on an electric Hamboard for the first time and loved it. As always, Sk8Kings amazed everyone with their crazy tricks and awesome maneuvers.  Chris was so inspired by Richy, The King of 360s, that he took to attempting some on his own. Check out the video to see how he did.

What was especially cool about this particular skate session was the variety of people and the generous spirit of skating that was felt by all.

Chaput's Meetup group has grown to include world-class downhill racers and top industry manufacturers to soccer moms and their kids.  Blending that group with the Sk8Kings was just a natural and successful combination.

Chaput is always looking to combine efforts and share the passion for skateboarding. On this particular day Chaput, Sk8Kings, and the entire crew, hit it out of the park and made Go Skateboarding Day + Fathers Day a homerun!
