A board thats alive, Friday, 06 April 2007 Written by Roysan - View all my reviews - Top 500 Reviewer Longboard Review How long have you ridden the board: 2 monthsWhat is your setup like?: vanguard flex 2, Abec 11 pink gumballs, bones swiss super 6, 180mm randalls Typical Session Discipline: downhill, carving, dancing, and cruising How much did you pay?: $300 and then $50 for bearing upgrade Where did you purchase it?: Black Diamond Sports What were the strengths of the deck.: just an all around fun board. compared to other boards a loaded vanguard just feels like it's "alive". it turns like a beast. If you load the deck in a turn(with your weight) it will snap the back board back. Its very stable at speed, which suprised me since the setup standing still feels very wobbly. i can't see it ever breaking unless you take a saw to it. (i've heard stories of vanguards getting run over and being perfectly fine. on top of that loaded replaces any cracked decks...lifetime guarantee) What were the weaknesses?: haven't found many...the randall trucks are squeaky and I gave it a 4 for constuction because the grip does wear out. right now the grip is still completly fine but compared to when the grip was new...it saddens me Similar decks you have ridden?: none Would you recommend it?: Yes

You probably already know if you want one..., Wednesday, 28 March 2007 Written by Skinart - View all my reviews - Top 50 Reviewer I would almost recommend it as a first board--on the principle that a premium board makes for a premium experience. That is why I bought it to replace my first board that I never bothered to ride. It worked, I love riding it and wish I did so more often. However, there are good boards with a less premium price tag. I was fortunate in that I happened to be just the right sort of person for a miscut board so I got a premium board for an entry level price. Longboard Review How long have you ridden the board: About 3 monthsWhat is your setup like?: 38" flex2, R2 180s with Red Bushings.Bones Reds, Lemon ZigZags Typical Session Discipline: Cruising, carving How much did you pay?: A little over 200 shipped Where did you purchase it?: From Loaded What were the strengths of the deck.: Flexy, fun board. Turns very smooth and tight. Light whenyou need to lug it around. Crisp clean appearance. Attracts attention--but not too much attention. Confidence inspiring strength--can flex to the ground and spring back. No concern about breaking it.A board with 'personality'. Hard to explain, but this lovely just want's you to ride. What were the weaknesses?: I find that my stance is widening a bit, so sometimes my back foot ends up over the wheels. Grip is just a bit weaker than I would prefer--but cleaning it might help.So light that if it gets away from you it tends to rocket away and skip and bounce--which can lead to falling over laughing.Doesn't fit in a gym locker...:(Flex is a very polarizing feature. You will either love this board or you will despise it. Similar decks you have ridden?: Nothing quite like it. Would you recommend it?: Yes

DROPPIN KNOWLEDGE!, Monday, 12 March 2007 Written by Sherpa - View all my reviews - Top 10 Reviewer i can only reccomend this deck if youre looking for a dedicated carver and only if you like riding in the center of your boards. Longboard Review How long have you ridden the board: year and a halfWhat is your setup like?: r2 180s, indy reds, 80 avalons or cherrybombs or 76/83 kryptos Typical Session Discipline: carver What were the strengths of the deck.: fantastic construction method. What were the weaknesses?: the grip sucked, the platform forces your stance, and the reccomended flex was waaay to soft for my liking. Would you recommend it?: Yes

Vanguard, Sunday, 04 March 2007 Written by Tynan Longboard Review How long have you ridden the board: 5 monthsWhat is your setup like?: Vanguard flex-4, Randal R-2 180mm, Seismic Speed Vents. Typical Session Discipline: Cruising, dancing, Steeps, pumping. How much did you pay?: 160 american Where did you purchase it?: thelongboardstore.com What were the strengths of the deck.: My favourite thing about the deck is the flex, it is amazing. It looks and feels weak but no matter how rough you treat it is surprisingly holds its own. The most comfortable and controlable deck for carving ive ever ridden. What were the weaknesses?: The lenght is not too great, it would be nice if the higher flex's came in the 42 inch. The Vanguard is a real challenge to walk on but its possible because of the truck placement. And its not to sturdy on the steeps. Similar decks you have ridden?: none Would you recommend it?: Yes
