Michael Stefaun's new Pro Deck from Pool Kings is bringing the bling!  Look at that thing!  Click it to visit the site.

Active Image

Stefaun's roots are in street skating. Therefore, it's only natural that his pool shape closely resembles the traditional, double-end, twin tip shape that so many street decks incorporate. Michael's Pool King deck is constructed using polymer composites and 5 plys of hard rock maple veneers. Pool Kings claim these are 8 ounces lighter than standard 7 ply wood decks of the same size and shape and retain their "pop" for a longer time as well.

if pumping and flatland cruising are you disciplines, you wont be unhappy. i wouldnt recommend them over 30mph unless you get bigger wheels and a stiffer spring. the bushings are plastic and the way the thing is designed means that you have to keep those moving parts greased with lithium grease to keep them from destroying their life. slightly annoying fact that the bushing do have to be replaced ever 12 months or so. but the trucks really are just so smooth in and out of every transition and turn.
Equipment Reviews
How long have you ridden them?: 12 months
What Setup are you running them on?: 40" original malakai/65mm kryptos
45" sector9 uluwatu/70mm sector9 75a duro

Typical Discepline?: campus cruising, pumping
How much did you pay for them?: 50 USD
Where did you buy them?: ebay, and another pair new from original.com
What are their weaknesses?: takes a good day worth of riding to get used to the "diving" into a turn effect. if bombing, the back wheels tend to come off the ground unless you have a larger board, like 45" or longer. just get bigger wheels and longerboard to deal with it. you really do have to take you time and carve with these. they are really ment for bombing.
What are their strengths?: ultra pump. from a standstill to good speed in just 3 or four good pumps.
deep carve, just like surfing or snowboarding. you can really get good leaning, tight turns, and really feel out the carves.

What similar equipment have you ridden?: nothing quite like this.
Would you recommend them?: Yes

when i had mine mounted up there was an obvious dead spot with a lot of play without turning, they had a weak return to center, and they would slide out so much in the rear because they turned a lot. these thing would just have a little play in the center before you started your turn, then dive in, then lose traction. getting the hardware on was awkward at best, since a standard skate tool butts up against portions of the baseplate.

if you want to turn a lot, these fit the bill. other then that, i cannot reccomend these.

I love my Originals. I got one of my buddies hooked onto longboarding by letting him ride my board with these trucks. They were my first trucks and I plan on keeping them for a long time.
Equipment Reviews
How long have you ridden them?: 3 years
What Setup are you running them on?: Landyachtz Mummy - 78a Gumballs
Typical Discepline?: Garages and around campus
How much did you pay for them?: No idea, part of $120 complete from Original.
Where did you buy them?: eBay
What are their weaknesses?: They require a lot of maintenance, and when you get too long in between maintenace periods, they lose some other their ride ability.
What are their strengths?: The carve. They feel like nothing else. The are so fluid and carve deeper than anything else I have ridden.
What similar equipment have you ridden?: There is nothing similar to Originals, they are... well original.
Would you recommend them?: Yes
