Had my Super 8's for about three weeks on a Sector 9 Goddess of Speed. Super 8's take a little getting used to. The turning radius is ridiculously small, and if you're not careful, you'll discover the hard way that sometimes they can turn quicker than you can think. Super 8's are carving machines and perfect for surfing-style, super tight cut/snap backs. The seem stable at speed, but again, if you're used to "normal" trucks these can catch you out until you used to how little effort they require to change direction. I love 'em. Highly rec'd.

Very nice choice for a longer/wider board as they can make a long wheelbase turn extremely sharp. Just make sure that you have enough clearance, or you will get wheelbite awfully bad...

Cracked Original S8, Friday, 02 February 2007

Written by guest   -  View all my reviews  - #1 Reviewer

What's up folks ? ? My name's DeMitt - and I'm a rider here in Salt Lake City. I've been looking for a forum like this to ask some other 'Original" riders about a situation I'm having. I got a new pair of S8's directly from Original via an online order. It took 9 days for them to get from New Jersey to Utah via ground shipping. No worries....Well, I get 'em - and within 2 hours of VERY light riding-no slides one of the trucks cracked right where's there's the square slot on the side of the baseplate which holds the upper bushing. A serious crack - from top to bottom - completely split - NOT a hairline fracture. What a bummer right ? Not even - read on...This happened on a Thursday night, October 13th.. The next morning I called and left a voice message on Original's answering machine and I emailed Original to not only explain the situation, but to provide my tracking number as I was ALREADY sending back the defective unit NEXT DAY service the day after it cracked, paid for from my own pocket....again, no worries. Scott from Original answered back my email that same day,Friday, October 14th-and apologized and stated he'd send out a new one. I replied that I was going on vacation that following week and I was really hoping to get a good few days of riding these sick trucks. He replied that he couldn't get them out for Saturday delivery and I replied I understand but did mention that I was hoping to have it by at least next Monday - Tuesday - maybe even Wednesday ya' know? I guess I was trying to give the hint that shipping it back via an expedited service like I sent them isn't asking too much - at least a 2 or 3 day service ya' know ? ? PLUS, I knew from getting them the 1st time that they'd take 9 days to get here from New Jersey to Utah. Too much to ask ? ? Well......Guess what ? ? It's now Saturday, October 22nd, 6 business days and 2 Saturdays since Scott 'sent them'- and still no truck ! ! My question is...we know trucks crack and break right ? That's not the issue...But - when you buy from THE company - advise that company AND send them the defective truck NEXT DAY via your own pocket - wouldn't you'd expect the replacement truck to come on a more expedited service ? ? Again - it's 9 days for ground shipping ! ! ! At least a 3 day / 4 day service right ? Heck - maybe even a 5 day service ? ? Shotty service ? ? I don't know - but here's my review...These trucks kick A** and I'm a 195 lb. rider using this on a Sector 9 Trilaminate with Abec 11 Gumballs and Bones Swiss - and just like the other posts state, you can really make some SERIOUS arcs with these things and slide on an ant's back at a moment's notice....BUT - the customer service, especially when it's a defective unit, blows at best. I'm gonna just get more bushings and replacement parts right now - so I won't have to deal with this company again. It sucks when such a great product has not too great backing behind it ...UNLIKE Exkate - who's service is great and IMMEDIATE when replacing a defective part....I will forward this to Scott just to let him know how I feel about this. Am I being unreasonable folks ? ? Oh - to ship priority mail - 2 days service quoted directly from www.usps.com <3 lbs. 12"x10"x10" box>is only 8.55 USD ! ! I'm baffled...am I being unreasonable folks ? That's my main question I guess ? Is it unreasonable to suggest that a replacement be shipped in an expedited manner ? ? f.y.i. A suggestion was to have my local skate shop order them next time to have them deal with it - but our local shop carries only Randals and Indie's for longboards and I already have 3 pairs of 180's, 1 pair of 150's, 1 pair of DH's, and a pair of Exkate 201's - so this was merely an attempt to try out other hybrid trucks on the market ya' know ? ? The local shop says they'd carry them if more riders out here demanded them. The manager of the shop rode 'em and loved 'em <a loose 180 up front with my 1 remaining S8 in the rear...a good combination for those out there looking for something different>. These trucks are SICKER than SARS - but with my experience <which might be an isolated case> the service given to get a replacement unit sent back out is shotty AT BEST. Sorry Scott....
